22oz Bottle. 2011. Thanks for sharing, Sean. Tamped down Belgian and grassy, metallic hop aroma. Smells pretty good. Flavors are a little more mangy and difficult to sop up. There’s a distinct oxidized, metallic hop character to this. The Belgian flavors hold a phenolic sweetness that is good at times, kind of standoffish at others. This beer is having some agreement problems, the elements are fighting. There’s good things beneath, but it needs to harmonize a little more for this to be particularly good. Bottle thanks to someone. Pours with a huge foamy white head over a hazed golden body. Aromas are floral, peppery, estery, phenol, apricot and sage. Flavors are equally floral and spicy. Bitter, grainy, apricot, grassy, hoppy. Stone fruit, lingering esters. Lively carbonation. Atom (2594) - Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA - SEP 21, 2011
Bomber pours cloudy golden/orange with a small white head. Aroma is floral, citrus, Belgian spice. Taste is an almost creamy citrus, spice, with a bitter pine finish. Not liking the characteristics of most Belgians I found this beer really nice the spice was overpowering but really complimenting. crossovert (14134) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - SEP 17, 2011
Mad hatter mixed with some Belgian yeast, it isn’t too bad, but not mindblowing. obguthr (6829) - Staunton, Virginia, USA - SEP 15, 2011
Grapefruit, rosehips, lemon meringue, candi and lime on the nose. Clear orange, enormous head, nice lacing. Grapefruit peel flavor, drier than expected. Lemongrass toward the end. Not nearly as complex as the aroma would have you believe. Another in a line of great American made BPAs.

A: The beer pours a hazy golden orange color with a large white head.
S: Very lemony with plenty of yeast to go along with it. A nice combination of citrus peels and a light floral hop note. It’s fairly bready with some other sweet malt notes such as a touch of cracker. A light spice, perhaps some apples.
T: A bit more bread than on the aroma with some yeast and maybe toffee. There is a lot of citrus character, particularly lemon, with a mild grass note. Not much bitterness, but a lot of sweet fruity esters.
M: A bit on the light side in body with a medium carbonation.
O: Kind of funky for a Belgian IPA, but a lot going on and some nice flavors. arminjewell (9727) - East Lansing, Michigan, USA - SEP 13, 2011
Pours hazy dark orange with big fluffy white head, very carbonated. Aroma has notes of nice pine, grass, resin, some nice fruity esters, spice, slight barnyard funk. Taste is nice and carbed but still smooth on the palate, with notes of pine and grass, slight fruity pear, lots of spice and funky notes, finishing very dry and pretty bitter. Tasty! bhiner41 (194) - Darien, Illinois, USA - SEP 6, 2011
Sour all the way, but no sharp sour notes. Smell is hoppy and musty. Color is hazy orange, thick foamy tan head. Bitter taste with a sour finish. Rather short dry finish as well. Nice mix of the sour and pale style. ddemmingjr (890) - Chagrin Falls, Ohio, USA - SEP 5, 2011
on tap @ Beer Kitchen, KC, MO. pours clear golden, pillowy off white, one finger head.nice retention and lacing. nose- tangerine, earthy notes. Taste- herbal, grainy, yeast, biscuit. crisp, spicy dry bitterness. Brett esque Schroppfy (2362) - Łódż, Warsaw, Poland; Michigan, Ohio, USA - SEP 1, 2011
I like the copper-ish color of this one, and the head is quite nice. Floral, peach skin (plus tropical sweetness) and slightly tannic aromas - the aroma is fresh, clean and sharp. Head lingers, well-carbonated. Lively palate. The flavor is pretty intense; there is a sharp bitterness and a huge tartness, seemingly quite dry. This is a funky beer, with lots of tropical character and hoppiness. Malt is there in the form of a light bready sweetness, but it doesn’t shine and isn’t balanced. Ssss’OK though.
