COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
As we kick off our Summer seasonal, Golden Cap saison, we’re excited to roll out a single-batch seasonal, “Four Witches” black saison. It’s an opportunity to explore flavor within a remarkably interpretive style. Saisons are intriguing beers as they have traditional roots, yet are a delicious forum for variation and development.

The Four Witches art, illustrated by Kyle Bice, develops on Golden Cap’s theme, with a nod to Wizard of Oz, as L. Frank Baum wrote the book while summering in Holland, MI. White and dark roasted wheat provide deceptively delicious body, and a playful reference to Oz’s contrast between good and wicked witches. Caramel rye and barley continue the story, along with a unique yeast character and mild spicing.

Pours a dark brown color with a light tan head. Aroma is of banana, roasted malts, slight rye, and some wheat. Flavor is strong of the rye and banana with roasted malts and wheat. Very intriguing beer for a saison.

Dark brown color with a tall tan head. Orange soap scents along with pale malt and sweet bleu cheese. Interesting if anything aroma. First quaff, I am here thinking about smoke bleu cheese, Some citric zest in the middle and toasted to lightly roasted malt in the finish. Somehow the flavors work as I envision myself setting next to a witches brew kettle. 5/12

Willrunforbeer’s fridge clean out. 2013 vintage. 750ml bottle. Pours black with very thin tan head. Aroma is spicy, black pepper, light roast, and yeasty.

Taste has a black pepper throughout the entire sip. Maybe dark fruit and yeast. Gosh damn that yeast is spicy! Yikes! Entire to spicy of a finish. To be fair, this maybe held way to long but I’m not sure it matters.

Bomber from trade, vintage 2013. Pours dark brown with a beige head. Aroma is caramel, juicy fruit gum, pepper.. Flavor is also caramel, bubblegum, pepper. Maybe I should have saved this for a few more years...

Mine says: ABV: 8,92 per cent for the 2013 Vintage Deep dark brown coloured body, slightly muddied near the bottom, all wiht a nice, thick, two centimetre tall light brown head. Aroma of alcohol, grain, prunes, malt, chocolate and perhaps some light herbal notes - not much though. Medium-bodied; Assertive chocolate and earthy malt notes with some cloying molasses and unrefined sugar sweetness - focused solely on that with disregard for other flavour profiles. Aftertaste is once again, cloying malt and sweetness with a lot of alcohol, funkiness and pit fruits that make this pretty bad - definitely not a saison and definitely not worth drinking ever again. Overall, just as bad as the ratings would show, and I’m super excited in the RB community for not throwing reputation ratings at this one - rate a beer for how it tastes only and not a label, and this one is just pure bad. I sampled this 65 cL bottle purchased from Whole Foods in Washington (I Street, Foggy Bottom), DC on 16-October-2014 for US$7,99 sampled at home in Washington on 24-January-2015.

12oz bottle. Poured a black color with a smaller sized off white head. Chocolate, licorice, and spices.

Tuning out real life for a minute at this thanksgiving dinner. Bomber from 2013 with an abv that doesn’t match what this site currently says. Boozy roasted mess. My heart is racing faster from the sugar and booze. This was an impulse buy while checking out. A good value and i might finish this one.

It poured a dark brown color with a small white head. The aroma was of chocolate, caramel, roast and some banana. The taste was a little spicy, sweet and tart. Something a little different.

DarkSong (380) - Dacula, Georgia, USA - AUG 24, 2014
22 oz bottle. It pours black with a small tan instantly vanishing head. It has the aroma of dough, cherries, blackberries and chocolate. It has a strong chocolate taste, a licorice taste, a fruity taste, some vanilla, a bread taste and a bit of a barnyard taste.. I liked this beer but it may be a little too complex.
