On tap at New Holland, pours black with a decent off white head and some lacing, the aroma is decently roasty with a touch of chocolate and some vanilla, the flavor has a nice front end of chocolate with a finish of caramel as well. AWISLguy (3429) - Wisconsin, USA - OCT 8, 2011
On tap at New Holland, sampled from ck1. Pours dark brown with some red highlights. Some lacing. Aroma is chocolate milk, some vanilla and some roasted malts. Sweet but with body. Taste is chocolate, oatmeal, some roasted malt. A bit of smokey bacon adding something off. Finishes sweet and medium length. Pretty nice. TheAlum (7164) - Aurora, Illinois, USA - OCT 2, 2011
Sampler on tap at the brewpub (Holland, MI). Pours a very blackish brown hue, some ruby edges, not opaque but fairly dark. A frothy beige head dies to a ring, laces small. Aromas are a touch sweet, vanilla and cocoa, roasty coffee with roasted malts, toast, with mellow sweetness. Initial is lighter end of medium bodied offering some lactose sweetness, vanilla and cocoa moi, being combatted by coffee, roast, toast. Backend throws some telltale sweetness, mellow cocoa, and roasty coffee. Finish mellows up, lingering sweetness is a bit stronger than the sweet lactose sugars. It takes over a bit. Pretty nice, but lacking a bit of body. Ok.
