Pours dark black, as night. Very deep rich roasted aroma The taste is dark chocolate and very malty. A hearty heavy stout. There is a slight hint of coffee and a touch of fruit. Very well done. Leaves you wanting many more!

Almost black, some beige bubbles. Aroma having some roast and bit of barrel character although itís not barrel aged. Taste has deep roasty sweetness and more dark dried plums. Bit of alcohol there, like aged in wine barrels although itís not. Bit edgy bitter finish.

Iím had the 2016 version with 11.5% ABV. This pours a very dark almost black color with a small head. Nice brew but kind of turned off by too much of a fruitish flavor, I couldnít quite place it. Also definitely can taste the alcohol in it...not really a good thing. Decent beer just not a great one.

At Whole Foods. Pours black with a thick tan head. Initial taste of sweet coffee and dark chocolate. Lingering dark chocolate but sweet. ---Rated via Beer Buddy

Bottled. Pours pitch black with off white small head. Aroma is slightly malty with chocolate and coffee with a hint of booze. Smooth mouthfeel with low carbonation. Really lovely stout.

BB backlog. Bottle, pours a deep dark brown, nearly black. Head is 2 finger and beige in color. Smell is roasted malt, coffee, toffee, and rich chocolate. Flavor is oak, cocoa, barley, and subtle grain. The booze was hidden well for 10.8 percent, tasted closer to 8

Bottle shared at a Yom Kippur tasting at Maxí place. 2016 bottle. Black with a tan head. Chocolate-covered cherry, sherry aroma. Bitter, ink, alcohol in the mouth. Full body, smooth and syrupy. 11.5%abv. but doesnít feel like it at all. A little roasty and bitter finish. Good.

The aroma is sweet bread, a little licorice raisin. Pours black with an amber hue, no head (this bottle is probably 2007 or 2008) and no lacing to speak of. The taste is some sweet and some bitter. The body is medium, the texture creamy, the carbonation average and the finish bitter. Tastes of chocolate, dates, very very good!

Bottle sample at a Yom Kippur eve tasting at Maxís place. Thanks kerenmk. 2016 bottle. Black with a tan head. Aroma of roast, chococlate, coffee, a bit of cherries and more fruits. Great sweet flavor, rich, with roast, chocolate, a bit of coffee, some dark fruits, light alcoholic note, and a bitterish note. Full-bodied, rounded. Really good.

Iím drinking the 2016 version, 11.5% ABV. I can smell the flaked barley, along with some dark fruit, coffee and cocoa. Not boozy or roasty at all. Flat black color with a light brown head. It looked watery pouring out; I have to dock it a point for that. The dark fruit makes an appearance in the taste as well, along with brown sugar and roasted malt. Not very complex, but not bad either. Strong and long lasting aftertaste. The palate really let me down. An Imperial Stout this big should not be this thin and watery. Overall, this was pretty good but I donít know whether I would seek it out again. It was expensive, not really worth it.
