bottle from my boss. Thanks Shawn! Pours a deep copper brown. medium beige head. aroma is strong malt and alcohol. definitely has a bourbon taste with a syrupy finish. High quality, but not my style.
Smells like apple pie, caramel corn and dark fruit, slightly boozy. Pretty amber color with a thin white head. Tastes like bourbon barrel, has dark fruit/quad qualities, chocolate, surprisingly roasty. Thick, oily palate, slightly carbonated. Bottle. Bought Aug 2014; BBE undated; Drank Jan 2016 - Dark Reddish Amber in colour. Slight off-white head. Spare lacing. Very Malty; wheaty, toffee, caramel, brown sugar, Bourbon, wood, some vanilla. Fruity; dark fruits, raisins, prunes, dates. Bit spicy. Warming alcohol. Quite syrupy. Very sweet very malty bourbon woody and fruity throughout. Generally, not a style I enjoy but this was decent.

From the 12 fl. oz. bottle with a bottling date of 10/31/16. Just under 2 months old, which is young for a Wheat Wine/Barleywine style. Headless Reddish amber pour with decent clarity. Creamy characters lead off the aroma with a more subtle barley grain character, slight fruit, and no booze for 12%. Medium body. Same creamy and roasted barley malt characters in the flavor. Sweet. Bottle. Pours a dark reddish copper. Aroma and taste are bourbon and dark fruits. Bourbon isn’t overpowering and it’s quite smooth.

One of the smoothest, most easy drinking high-ABV barley wine’s I’ve ever had, and one of the very best beers I’ve had from New Holland. It pours brown with a very little bit of foam. The aroma is caramel, cereal malts, light peach notes, and some spice. The flavor is incredibly smooth. The bourbon barrel aging comes through bright and clear, adding vanilla to all of the character present on the aroma. The 12% ABV is an afterthought in the flavor. Consumed at cellar temperature. The flavor shows the thick toffee base with raisins, dates and figs. Bold dark fruits. Body is fuller side of medium with a slightly slick texture. Even after nearly two years in the bottle, the bourbon is still rather bold. Honestly, must be vintage variants because this is a very nice sipper!
Bottle from Capone’s. Pours hazy, ruddy, brown with tan head. Nose was heavy oak, bourbon, caramel malt. Tasted oaky, with a heavy bourbon flavor, some hops, caramel, tannins. Dense and late hot finish, and a true behemoth of a beer.
