Semi-opaque dark pour with a lightly colored khaki head. The aroma is oddly fruity with an equally odd absence of roast. Oooh that’s nice and different. The flavor is complex with some spice, fruit, licorice, floral and a delicate bitterness inside of a creamy textured body. Maybe its because I just had a different stout minutes before, but I cannot detect more than a very small hint of roasted barley. This almost defies the simple category of sweet or oatmeal stout. Much more complex than just roast & coffee or chocolate. This is special. I resist giving this 20 out of 20 but why not, this is as good & 3 dimensional as any trappiste ale. An excelent oatmeal stout, not as bitter as many stouts, but also not as dark a flavour. It has a lighter, nutter flavour. gyllenbock (9157) - Stockholm, SWEDEN - OCT 4, 2015

Black with a small tan head. Sweet with oat, chocolate, caramel and some light coffee. Medium mouthfeel. A descent one.

12 oz pour from chilled bottle into shaker pint. Dark brown, opaque, very moderate head. Nose is sweet, brown sugar, caramel. Body is full and creamy. Taste is also quite sweet, malty, caramel, dark bread, a hint of chocolate. Not bad, if you’re looking for a sweet stout.
