This stout is sheer beer poetry. Let it warm to about 45 F and pour it into a glass to fully experience its rich, roasty flavors and hints of coffee and chocolate. One glass and youll agree: The Poet is truly a rich, creamy brew of epic proportions.

Bonus bottle from Punkrkr27, thanks Steve... Pours black with a light mocha head.. Aroma is chocolate, vanilla, some roasted malts and coffee...Flavor is dark chocolate, roasted malts and I cant really pick up much else.. Lots of carbonation...Not sweet like I expected but it is pretty decent. Would have thought I was drinking a porter.

Pours near black with a touch of brown head. Nose is fairly potent roasted barley and oat with a little bitter hops and tangy, almost raisiny fruit. Flavor is much less tangy and quite sweet (for a stout), with a very good balance of roastiness/bitterness to the sweet oatmeal malt. Finish is weak and what little there is comes as sweetness.Medium body and very drinkable. Good stuff and great representation of a sweet oatmeal stout.

Pours an oily black with a darker cappuccino head. Aroma is coffee, creamy, chocolate, caramel, warm buttery toffee, weak anise/licorice. Taste is dry dark chocolate, black coffee, then the oats and creaminess, lots of malt and a slight note of darker stone fruits. Overall a very drinkable oatmeal stout.

Truly enjoyed this delicious stout from New Holland Brewery. Great dark brown to black colored pour, with a thin disappearing cream/tan colored head. A nice oat balance with malt backbone, roasted wheat flavors dominate. Great pour!

pours black with a thick tan head. Aroma is malt, biscuit, and just a hint of coffee. Thick creamy mouth feel. Taste is malty, faintly sweet. Just a hint of bitter on a quick finish. Good beer!

This beer has the aroma of smoke and coffee. This beer fills the glass with a black liquid that sits under a thick almond colored head. The taste is introduced by a combination of smoke and roasted nuts as the solution flows through the mouth a coffee taste can be picked up. This beer is moderately thick and mildly carbonated that leaves a nice taste lingering on the palate.

Pours dark brown almost black. A small beige head. Coffee notes in the nose. Great stout taste, a little sweet and citrusy, with a great roasted finish.

Pours nice deep dark in color but the tan head dissapeers quickly. has the coffee hint and malty aromas but the mouth feel is very weak for this style has a sweet then bitter after note. not one of my favorites.

I know this is supposed to be an oatmeal stout, but it reminds me more of the porters that Ive become fond of. Great malty aroma, beautiful dark pour, and just a wonderful flavor and taste profile. Ive only had 2 of these, but Im going to need to drink it side by side with my current favorites and re-rate them against each other, because this one could tie or better some of them.
