22 oz bottle, courtesy deftim13. This one pours a dark cola brown color and topped by a small head of cream colored foam that quickly settles to a thin film leaving soapy spots of lace around the glass. The aroma shows notes of smooth bourbon, vanilla laden oak, dark fruits like raisins and figs, and a touch of roast all atop a sweet caramel malt base. The flavor follows suit with the dark fruits of figs, plums, and raisins along with some vinous notes. The bourbon and oaky vanilla add a touch of smoothness and are not overpowering as they are well integrated. There isn’t much roast here to balance out all the sweetness. Medium bodied, but a touch thin from the barrel with good carbonation that leads to a fruity finish. This one has a nice flavor profile, but I was hoping for a bit more balance from all the sweetness. Pretty good stuff.
Bottle... Pours dark brown with flashes of ruby and a small, creamy, off-white head. Toffee is a major player in the otherwise nutty, vinous nose. Full-bodied with airy carbonation. The flavor delivers a big, malty blow, accompanied by more restrained notes of prune and tart acidity. Finishes tangy with oxidized features of dried plume and apple. I’ll join the crowd by saying this is a weird beer. bottle pours dark red color with persistent off-white head and nice lacing. Aroma dark fruits and funk. Taste much much better as it warms, do not drink this cold. Dark fruits, oak, a little chocolate and I swear there is some funky sweat socks taste here. Maybe it’s a little infected since no one else noticed it. Anyway it’s got a sour tartness to it as well. Palate thick and full. Finish surprisingly brief with just a little dark fruits hanging on. (22oz bomber brewed Jun 7, 2010, bottled Jun 8, 2011 thanks to GregSVT) cloudy amber with a fine creamy tan bubbled head. Nose of barrel, rum, wood, funk, cinnamon, raisins, and sweaty socks. Taste of raisin, vanilla, wood, sour, tart currant and cranberry, berry seeds, complex. Get more bourbon on the finish than the taste itself.

A: The pour is a dark brown color with about a finger of off-white head.
S: Roasted malt is the first thing I pick up here, but it’s quickly followed by various dark fruit notes and a mild tartness. The more I smell it the more raisins I get out of it. There’s a mild metallic note, maybe some plums, too.
T: Definitely a lot of plum and raisin flavor to this. Decently roasty with a bit of vanilla and oak. Surprisingly not much bourbon on the flavor (or the aroma, come to think of it). A touch of chocolate and the same tartness, almost like green apple.
M: The body is medium and the carbonation is also medium.

Thanks to my Summer Secret Santa deftim for this bottle! Thick, at times even sluggish dark brown pour with a minimal carbonation. Heavy sedimental look tends to complement the potent, grainy, yeasty aroma. Lots of malts and bourbon with a slightly tart yeast note finishing things off. Body is thick and could use some carbonation to liven things up. Taste, too, could use a little extra, specifically in the hop department. But on the other hand, there’s a quirkiness here that I dug a lot: specifically, I got a strong taste of Snickers with tart nutty barrel notes in the finish. Points for weirdness.
