Chestnut brown, opaque. Milk chocolate nose with light alcohol and toasty hops. Rather bitter, with some toasty, chocolate malts. Fun stuff. A bit boozy...but a tasty finish.
Bottle. Pours muddy brown with thin off white head. Nose/taste of figs, dates, vanilla, light whiskey, oak, molasses, toffee and caramel. Full mouth feel. Finishes a little "hot" with some warming alcohol. Otherwise smooth and flavorful. bhensonb (15487) - Woodland, California, USA - DEC 20, 2007
Draft at the brewpub. Rich dark fruit aroma. Near opaque brown color with a lightly lacing tan head. Full bodied with creamy carbonation. Very sweet dark fruit flavor (pruney) with roasted malt and arguably some floral hop. It is, perhaps, a near equivalent of Old Peculier.

"Nice. Rich malty sweet and pine aroma. Full bodied. Semi sweet and bitter flavor. Toffee, caramel and grapefruit. Solid example of a barleywine. jercraigs (10635) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - JUL 18, 2010
2010-07-01. Hazy brown body with modest beige head. 3+ Flavour starts malty with a good dose of bitterness in the finish, touch muddled (or is it just me?), bitterness grows as the glass goes on. 6+ Modest aroma, malty with light hop character. 6+ Average plus palate. Decent, but the overall mix of the flavours doesn’t quite come together for me today. 2008 Vintage on the sign, 2009 in the Festival Guide, On tap at Seattle International Beer Festival
