12 oz. bottle for review from Louis Glunz. It has a good, coppery pale ale color. The head is more bubbly and fizzy than most beers, which I’ll put up to its "grain" bill and vegan fining. I really cannot agree with anyone else that the smell is bad. It has some hops to it, which can make up for a lot of other faults. There is the slight sourness that I have found in other gluten-free beers, which becomes more pronounced as the glass warms up. Still there are hops putting up a front. The beer’s website mentions on citrusy hops, so that may be contributing to the slightly cidery sourness. Since I’m supposed to be watching a different condition, blood sugar, it’s interesting to see the standard ingredient label which shows this has no carbs from sugar (I know, the carbs from alcohol can be just as much a problem), But I do think I could manage with this if I had to (boy, is that damning with faint praise).

Holy hell this stuff is horrible. Poured a dirty orange with a white head. Aroma was of cardboard and vegetables. 12oz bottle (Courtesy of Headbanger) poured into a Shaker at 40°. Color is a nice golden brown with light carbonation and a very thin off white head. Aroma of caramel with a faint back note of citrus. It has a lighter body with a smooth clean mouth feel. Flavor is crystal malt, toffee and a little corn, then just a hint of citrus. After taste is clean then a bitterness comes out with a wort like taste. Has the same unfermented taste that is in the Blonde. Overall its not bad just a little odd.

Bottle in la. dark pour with yellow tones and an outsized coarse head. Didn’t realize this one was gluten-free. Damn. Molasses knows, some sourness. Nuts. (That’s a descriptor, not an exclamation). Flavor is terrible. Sweet-and-sour, Something like drinking a terrible English brown hail through dirty lines. Cops are basically nowhere to be found, contra the commercial description.

Backlog rating on 9-22-2012 (Bottle) This beer has a very small smooth off-white head with a long retention, gold transparent body, very fizzy, fast rising carbonation, and spotty amounts of lacing. The aroma is yeasty and citrus hops. The flavor is citrus hops, moderately bitter and yeasty. The mouthfeel is moderate carbonation and this beer is medium bodied. I really haven’t cared much for any of the gluten free beers that I’ve tried so far, but I’ll give this one a fair shake. Thanks to the addition of food coloring, it’s got a caramel body and is filled with bubbles rushing up to the somewhat yellowish fizzy head. The nose is lightly citrusy over some soggy crackers. The flavor is fairly neutral, a soft malt-like sweetness, some flax, and a pulpish bitterness. Gluten free. Decent pour. Clear amber. Fizzy white head. Thin nose. A bit metallix. Some caramel and some hopes. Not really great ... but decent for gluten free.
