Newcastle Brown Ale was first brewed in 1927 in Newcastle-upon-Tyne, England, by Jim Porter after three years of development. Production moved from Newcastle to Gateshead at the end of 2004 and to Tadcaster on closure of the Dunston brewery in 2010.
In 2017 the beer was re-branded and production moved to the main Heineken Factory in Zouterwoude.

Interesting mild nutty malt flavor, and a quite subtle hop presence. Nice brown color. Very much on the bland side, however. No real character - just a good tasting quaffable ale.

Nice, easy drinking brown ale with little aftertaste, but not quite enough body

Sweet, chewy, & nutty goodness. Almost sounds like a breakfast cereal commercial, but it's true. A flavorful brown ale that flows smooth. It takes the hops some time, but eventually they come out (almost as if they have to build up a presence in your mouth, before releasing their aroma). Yes, Billb, accessibility is a beautiful thing. I miss those establishments called 'liquor stores,' back in the West. Here in the Southeast we have ABC (The Government's Alc. Bev. Control) stores for liquor and grocery stores for Beer (it's not fun waiting in line, behind a cartful of groceries, to buy a 12 pack).

A great beer for drinking in large quantities. Not too strong in any respect, but has a good flavor.
