Newcastle Brown Ale was first brewed in 1927 in Newcastle-upon-Tyne, England, by Jim Porter after three years of development. Production moved from Newcastle to Gateshead at the end of 2004 and to Tadcaster on closure of the Dunston brewery in 2010.
In 2017 the beer was re-branded and production moved to the main Heineken Factory in Zouterwoude.

   AROMA 5/10   APPEARANCE 4/5   TASTE 5/10   PALATE 3/5   OVERALL 11/20

Pours a reddish-brown with a big, tan head that dissipates quickly into nothing. Molasses and grains on the nose, and mildly so. Sweet all the way down, watery mouthfeel. Has a decent, molasses like finish. I liked it when I was underage, but not so much anymore.

UPDATED: MAR 18, 2018 Very nice caramel, brown sugar and slight roasted note well balanced flavour. Dark amber. Fast disappearing head and light body.

12 oz bottle shared by ebone1988. The pour is a crystal clear reddish brown with a thick off white head that leaves a very soapy lace as it falls down to a dirty dish water kind of ring. This isn’t that good. The aroma is very metallic and sharp. There is a hint of caramel and malt, but it’s just sharp and metallic. The flavor is a little better. More balanced malt and an earthy hop presence. This is just really out there. Not in a good way. The mouth feel is watery and very light with a sharper carbonation and a quick and metallic malt finish. This one is a no go. Ugh. 4 2 5 3 9

Bottle shared with koleminer20. For the book. Aroma is skunky, metallic, earthy hops, somewhat nutty, not great. Appearance is brown, clear, thin light tan head. Taste is wheat, nutty, metallic, skunky, earthy hops, tastes better than it smells. Mouthfeel is light body, light crisp carbonation, metallic nutty wheat aftertaste. Overall, this isn't that great.

What ever changes they made to this Beer.. well very disappointed. It now has NO taste. Like Stale Watered down Beer. I have been drinking this beer for years, No more I will be changing the Beer I drink now. If I could I would rate this a big "ZERO"

Clear brown poured into a dimpled mug with a decent head. Malt aroma with a smooth taste with some nut that is slightly sweet. Perfect amount of IBU's to bring out the malt. I wished this was still brewed in the UK. Don't seem right to be in Belgium now although it taste about the same as I remember from the past.

UPDATED: FEB 16, 2018 Bottle from Crowne Plaza Hotel in Plymouth. Dark, golden brown with a white head. Aroma is earthy, yeasty and faintly citrus. The taste is light, crisp and refreshing with lemon and lime.

UPDATED: JAN 19, 2018 Pours a clear dark brown from a tap. Faint aroma of coffee and butterscotch, flavor is sweet and watery. Okay beer.

ischas (902) - - JAN 16, 2018
UPDATED: JAN 16, 2018 0,33 l Dose. Braunes, schwammiger, stabiler, cremeweißer Schaum, schöne Gardine. Die Optik ist dann auch das Highlight. Riecht relativ neutral, leicht malzig. Schmeckt leicht röstig, künstlich süß.

UPDATED: JAN 15, 2018 I worked for Scottish and Newcastle this was a class drink in its day when it was blended from other beers when it had its own brew recipe just went down hill It did have a Jammy marmalade flavour before it went through the pasteuriser always use a half pint glass and keep topping it up to give a good white head enjoy
