I used to have a Newkie brown back in the day, before I knew better, and choices were slim. It is red-brown in color, light in body and flavor. Clear bottles are always a bad idea. It is not exactly a good representation of English Ales, even though they are lighter in flavor than what craft beer drinkers are used to. The folks in Newcastle Upon Tyne were having a laugh when they exported this. Cheers mate!

From old tasting notes. Translucent reddish brown with a foamy beige head. Toasted malt nose, slightly sweet and hoppy. Lightly sweet toasted malt flavor is smooth and flavorful. Light sourness in middle. Biitter in finish and that stays in the aftertaste. Very drinkable.

No mucho nariz realmente. Acabado limpio. Una cerveza decente, aunque sosa.

I was eager to try another legendary beer. Had the can version. I had this after my first baseball game today, I was very thirsty. Did not make such a good impression.

550ml Bottle: Pours a clear amber with frothy off-white head. Slight chocolate aromas mixed with caramel and some toasted notes. Finishes slightly sweet with some toasted caramel flavours. Medium to light bodied, low carbonation and a low bitterness. Overall a very easy drinking beer that is well balanced. Enjoyed this thoroughly.

Not an everyday drinking beer, also not a special occassion beer. Newcastle Brown Ale is the beer you buy when there is a sale and you are tired of your regular choices. Its nothing spectacular, but it wont let you down. If you want a beer with a little more substance and a change of pace, give it a try
