4.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20
12 ounce bottle. Pours a clear light brown with an off-white head. The aroma is full of English ale esters, very close to Belgian, but just a bit different. This is the first cousin to De Koninck from Antwerp. The flavor is very clean with the malt and esters dominating over a very subdued bitterness. The bottle suggests that you drink the beer cool, but the flavors really come out when you let the beer warm up a bit. Note also the lower level of carbonation with no CO2 bite. All in all, a very subtle English ale with a lot to offer, but you need a pretty refined beer palate to appreciate all the nuances. The brewery claims that it is no longer using caramel color, but rather roasted malts to produce this brown ale. That is also very positive as the more natural, the better.
Clear brown poured into a dimpled mug with a decent head. Malt aroma with a smooth taste with some nut that is slightly sweet. Perfect amount of IBU's to bring out the malt. I wished this was still brewed in the UK. Don't seem right to be in Belgium now although it taste about the same as I remember from the past. Mad Dog Martin (190) - - FEB 16, 2018
UPDATED: FEB 16, 2018 Bottle from Crowne Plaza Hotel in Plymouth. Dark, golden brown with a white head. Aroma is earthy, yeasty and faintly citrus. The taste is light, crisp and refreshing with lemon and lime. BudBlack (26) - GERMANY - JAN 19, 2018
Quick3Beers (1558) - East Falmouth, Massachusetts, USA - JAN 19, 2018

UPDATED: JAN 16, 2018 0,33 l Dose. Braunes, schwammiger, stabiler, cremeweißer Schaum, schöne Gardine. Die Optik ist dann auch das Highlight. Riecht relativ neutral, leicht malzig. Schmeckt leicht röstig, künstlich süß.

If you drink a light beer and then move to this darker brew it will almost taste like coffee. Great beer overall. Great taste I give it a 96/100
