A: The pour is the usual amber color with nice clarity and a sturdy white head. The lacing is somewhat minimal, but is there.
S: Mostly pine and a bit of grassy hops, much less citrus (really none, in fact) than I would expect for a pale ale. A bit of bready malt as well.
T: This one does not really have too much going on. There is a bold flavor, and it’s pine. In fact, it’s really all you can taste in this beer. Quite bitter, especially for a pale ale, and without really any refreshing qualities.
M: The body is medium with a smooth, medium carbonation and a bitter finish that lingers.
D: I was not really all that impressed with this beer. I would have liked something a bit more citrus forward and balanced. argo0 (14127) - Washington DC, USA - NOV 15, 2004
Clear golden-amber body. Aroma is moderately sweet, grapefruit, caramel. Taste is medium sweet, caramel and grapefruit up top, finishing strong grapefruit. Decent bitterness but does not linger much. Medium body. Dogbrick (13010) - Columbus, Ohio, USA - AUG 26, 2010
UPDATED: OCT 4, 2010 Sample at the brewpub. The beer pours a clear orange color with a medium white head that diminishes steadily to a film. Short strings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of piney hops and sweet malt. Medium body with a moderately hoppy character that has pine and citrus notes. Sweet grainy malt in the background as well. The finish is hoppy with a short somewhat bitter aftertaste. Decent overall. bb (9268) - Alamo, California, USA - AUG 14, 2009

Beer number two on my flight at the brewpub on 11th March 2014. Comes a clear and good looking amber, white head. The aroma was leaning towards a citrus base with some toasted maltiness, as was the taste. Easy to drink and my second favourite of the eight beers I sampled while sitting in the sun outside the place with my wife and daughter. Clear amber with a fleeting head. Nice piney fresh hop aroma. Medium body. Good flavor of nicely bitter pine hops on a sweet caramel base. Classic Pale Ale. joeneugs (6371) - Livermore, California, USA - MAR 10, 2012
On tap at the brewpub. It pours golden with a small head. The aroma has some berry fruit, caramel and light diacetyl. The flavor also has some off notes of cooked vegetables. Other than that, theres some caramel and a decent earthy bitter finish. Not great. riversideAK (6261) - Shoreline, Washington, USA - JAN 17, 2008
Floral citrus aroma with some sweet bready malt. Pours a darker gold color. Notes of perfume and grapefruit in the flavor and some moderately sweet bready malt. Finishes very crisp. A clean APA. jgb9348 (6250) - Arlington (Pentagon City), Virginia, USA - AUG 31, 2011
Slightly orange coloured blonde body with a little white head. Aroma of fresh hops, light malt and a good citrus and grapefruit scent. Medium-bodied; Potent fresh hops show well, with a good malt backbone and some other light herbal tastes. Aftertaste shows a bit of grass, some light yeast and a good dose of citrus and grapefruit hops, all with a good malt backbone. Overall, a nice pale that shows well and leaves the mouth slightly puckered from the bitterness. I sampled this pint on draught at the brewpub with haddon90 in Newport Beach, California on 27-August-2011.
