In 2012 Edvard was challenged to brew something strong and dark. He took on this challenge and brewed an enormous imperial stout using 25% dark malt and 30% rye to be further aged on Armagnac barrels. The result was so luxurious that we simply had to brew it again! This 2016 edition of Dragonwort is the outstanding result of 48 hours of brewing, one kilo of malt per liter, and one year of maturation in bourbon barrels. Here at Nøgne Ø, we have a passion for bold and decadent stouts and this is certainly no exception!

Bottle 33 cl. Pours thick and black as motor oil with a small, light brown head. Nose is sweet roast, vanilla, alcohol and a spicy edge. Rich, solid body, lowish carbonation, roast, dark, dried fruits and then this spicy edge of the dragonwort - somewhat medicinal. 050118

Bottle enjoyed at home
Pours like used engine oil, both color and thickness, thin tanned head. Smell of dark dark malts, bourbon and booze, vanilla, chocolate, quite delicious. Heavy sweet, delicious dark malts, chocolate, some vanilla, bourbon and oak, a bit of alcohol, hints of coffee. Nice oily mouthfeel, very nice!
