75cl bottle. Cloudy dark amber body (I somehow expected this to be deep dark brown like Quads) with a medium beige head. Aroma is very Belgian - sweet and spicy with lots of yeast. Sweetish caramelly and hoppy taste with some herbal spices. Quite high carbonation. Covers the 10% ABV well - it almost tastes like some 8% Abbey Dubbels. Finally some light alcohol bitterness reveals itself in the finish but it’s not distracting. A decent effort from the gnomes.

33cl bottle. 02/2018 best by date. Appearance: Deep brown and nearly opaque, with light amber undertones, and a minimal off white foam head Aroma: Toffee, raisin, and bread crust prominent, with a touch of herbal hoppiness Taste: Rich malt sweetness, bread crust, caramel, toffee, and a touch of roast, with a touch of orange peel, raisin, and cinnamon. A touch of oxidized cardboard as well. Bitterness just enough to counter the rich maltiness. Mouthfeel: Medium bodied with a low carbonation. No discernible alcohol warmth for a beer of this strength. Finish: Spiced raisin and toffee remains. Fairly dry. Overall: A citrusy and peel bittered take on a quad. Nice rich malt sweetness with the typical bread crust, raisin, and toffee. Low bitterness, and indiscernible alcohol warmth. Fairly easy to drink for a beer of this intensity.

Brown with an off white head. Aroma of dark caramell, yeast, dark fruit and malt. Sweet with low bitterness and a bit of sourness.

Pours a ruby brown with a small head. Not much lacing. Aroma of candied dark fruits, malts, and alcohol. The aroma doesnt emanate from the glass like other offerings of the same type do unfortunately. Tastes like sticky caramel and dark fruits. Booze well integrated. A winter ale i could enjoy any time of year

absolutely underrated. almost black color with nice head retention. smells burnt molasses and dark fruits. sweet taste is nice balanced with high abv’s sharpness. medium bodied, well carbonated. slightly warming finish. one of the most drinkable strong ales of all time.

vinivini (2582) - Gomel, BELARUS - JUN 15, 2017
Bottle. Muddy deep amber to chestnut brown. Moderate ivory head. Nose: toffee, caramel, minor spice and herbs, candy sugar. Medium body. Medium sweet taste. Rich malts. Nice yeast and spice. Low to ligh bitterness. No alco. Fine ale.

The looks of the beer are nice. The color of the beer is a nice brown. It looks like a good Belgian ale. The beer is cloudy and has a nice satin look, perhaps caused by a yeast sediment. On top of the beer a nice layer of soft almond coloured foam is formed. The bulk collapses, leaving a nice drape. The smell of the beer is good. It is a decent winter ale. I smell a certain creamy and slightly savoury yeast smell, which is nice. There are also nice malty aroma’s and some syrupy smells. There is heavy alcohol in there, all resulting in a nice and warming smell. The taste is like the smell. There is a strong yeast flavour, sweet malts but hardly any hops. There is a nice syrupy sweetness. Palate is simple. Medium body, smooth and creamy texture and medium high carbonation. The finish is not that long and a bit dry. All in all, nice beer but not the best beer on earth.

One that got away. May 2016. In requisite tulip off the in laws. Glossy ruby with a disappointing grey-beige head shrinking to the perimeter of the glass. Enticing sticky molasses and muscovado aroma with malt loaf, nail polish remover and raisin. HP sauce and Cola spice; ripe plum, dried herb, nougat and soap in the blender. Discreetly boozy and spiced.

Demens (456) - Budapest, HUNGARY - APR 12, 2017
0,33l bottle. Hazy thick dark brown colour with medium lasting creamy off-white head. Aroma: Caramel, candy sugar with spicey tones and yeast. Taste: Has a full malty start with soft fruity and spicey tones with a slight bitter mouthfeel. The texture smooth and creamy. Medium/full body with medium carbonation. Long sweet/sour and a little bit spicey finish. Has a charm for the holidays, a special one but not a culinaric bombshell.
