RnH: Extreme Winter: Pours deep marroon leaving a thin off white head. The nose was great, especially in the snifter... loads of roasted malts, bright fruits, mild citrus and some sugars. Taste was very nice, complex. More fruits, clove and banana, deep sugars. The body was easy, very drinkable. Nice brew.

Pours a chocolate brown colour with frothy thick head. Initial sweetness balanced by carbonation and hoppy finish. A fairly typical Belgian brown ale w high alcohol content (could sometimes taste it on the swallow). Pleasant aftertaste nonetheless. Quite nice. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Excellent winter beer, well balanced and no harsh edges. Raisins and warming winter spices in a dark beer with Belgian panache. Great one from Brasserie D'Achouffe. Will return to this one. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Never rated this well-known beer before. Bottle pours dark ruby brown with small beige head. Aroma: sweet, dark malts, caramel, vanilla, light choco. Taste: more than medium sweet, syrupy, soft bitter; no development. OK carbo, but more alcoholic than its brother McChouffe. Again: nice & easy heavy beer, but not really charactistic.

PowY (1159) - AUSTRIA - DEC 31, 2017
330 ml bottle at home, bb. 03.2019. Pours a dark copper with a beige head. The aroma is lightly yeasty (dough) and lightly malty (cereals, honey) and some noticeable herbal hop presence. Medium full body with a medium carbonation a medium to medium heavy sweetness and a light to medium bitterness. The flavor is dominated by the sweet malt (brown sugar, honey, caramel, molasses) but features a nice herbal note along with sweet candied fruits (orange, plums, raisins). Not alcoholic but warming. Finishes with some residual sweetness and some bitter hops. Pretty full of flavors, rather sweet and nearly cloying - enjoyable.
