COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Our Nickel Brook ’Bolshevik Bastard’ Russian Imperial Stout is scientific creation brewed especially for those of you who aren’t afraid of big and bold flavours! Made with a blend of Roasted, Chocolate and Crystal malts; this Imperial Stout exhibits many deep flavours of rich, roasty chocolate and dark fruit. To counterbalance the sweetness, the Bolshevik Bastard is aggressively hopped to give rise to this remarkably smooth Russian Imperial Stout. Na zdorovye!

Plechovka od Karola. Cierna farba, hneda husta pena. Vona prazenych sladov, kakao, kava, jemne karamel. Chut cokoladova sladka, jemne kakao a prazene slady. Dochut jemne rumova, alebo burbon. Vynikajuce.

50 Cl Can thnx to my Canadian friend ! Pours black, small white head. Smell is rather intense, roasty, bit sweet chocolate. Taste is quite heavy roastyness; pure dark cocoa / chocolate. very intense chocolate ending. Mild bitterness. Tad sweet, but def not too much. Nice body and carbo. this might not be shockingly great, but I am suprpised by the low ratings ( 40 on style ??? ) this one gets. Very nice imperial stout, and I can't name one thing thats wrong with it. beauty in simplicity, perhaps. Nowadays, we all ( including me ) seem to like adjunct stouts better, but this is a damn fine brew !

Given by a connoisseur at work, this is a good serious imperial stout. Well balanced.

16 ounce can. Dark pour with a lot of creamy head and roast and chocolate. Medium mouthfeel. Nice.

Pours a frothy brownish head and has a dark brown appearance. Thick dirty lacing. Aromas of light toffee and toasty malts. Very mild smokey like flavours along with notes of toffee, light chocolate and hints of nuts and breads. Sort of like a milk stout. Slick and oily mouthfeel with a mild tingling sensation. Pretty good, smooth and creamy and easy to drink. Alcohol is very well hidden.

Darwenus (1159) - Virginia, USA - JUL 21, 2017
A rich, dense, hearty stout. Pours black with practically no foam. Aroma is huge on bakers chocolate, with raisins, coffee, some nutty character, too. The Finish is all about the chocolate and bitter roasted malt. No hint of the 8% ABV.

Scipio (1215) - Palatine, Illinois, USA - JUL 19, 2017
Pours black with a a thin, dark tan head. The aroma is very roasted while having good amounts of chocolate and licorice. I get some lighter coffee as well. The taste is dry and has a heavy bitterness. Flavors parallel what the nose was offering, only now chocolate and licorice carry the load and the roasted malt elements are more complimentary. Slight amounts of raisin and oak, and hints of pepper and coffee round this one out. Medium bodied, thick in texture, and softer carbonation. Good and easy to enjoy, but I want better from this style.

Bottle served in a glass, this beer was black in the glass and gave a tan cover that was mostly lasting, there was decent lacing, the nose had lots of roasted malt, intense roasted malt, a little dry cocoa and some coffee, faint dark fruit, and a bit of dark bread, malt sweetness with a little molasses, as the beer warmed, there was a touch of smoke from the roasted malt and the sweetness grew as well as the chocolate, the flavors were big roasted malt, intense roasted malt with a touch of burnt notes, coffee, some cocoa with a little dry chocolate, some malt sweetness with there was a generous roasted malt bitterness at the finish that seep into the taste buds, roasted malt bitterness and coffee linger on afterwards, the mouth feel was about medium, average carbonation and it was creamy, this impy had intense roast malt notes on the nose and mouth, the body was not as heavy as I prefer in an imperial stout but it was not light, this beer was a big roasted stout and intense roasted imperial stout, I liked it, this drink would pair well with a piece of cake.
