750 ml bottle; label reads "2016 Reserve Ale - 10% abv". Quiet pour with moderate carbonation and a red amber colour, short tan head, and sparse lace. The aroma is a blend of bourbon, mixed spices, dark dried fruit, burnt sugar, and oak. The beer has a mild brett start with an undertone of spices expanding into the middle. Long finish with notes of dried fruit and oak. There’s a subtle warm alcohol glow at the very end. Assertive and complex.

Pours murky brown with a beige head. Bourbon with dark fruit and carmel aroma. It has a sour and sweet taste, with a full body. Nicely done.

(2016 Edition, 10%ABV) 750ml bottle pours a golden amber color with a finger of white head that leaves some spotted lacing on the glass. Aroma is light fruits, caramel, some spice with herbal notes. Taste is a fruity and caramel malty sweetness with a herbal hop bitterness and a blend of spices in the finish. Light to medium bodied with moderate carbonation. Overall, a decent brew for the style, but just didn’t seem to work for me.

I really enjoy the barrel aged series from Nickel Brook. You really get the dark fruits and caramel from this beer.

Big off white head. Tight bubbles. Toffee coloured. Aroma: light Brett, bourbon, malty sweetness. Matching flavours with some balancing acidity. Nice and dry.

bottle (2013). Poured hazy reddish-brown with sediment, big rocky beige head. Aroma is fruity and sour. Medium body, lower creamy carbonation, tart mouthfeel. Flavour of caramel malt with sour cherries, oak, herbal spicy notes.

UPDATED: OCT 16, 2016 2015 vintage bottle received in a BIF box a while back. Pours a hazy amber with a medium slightly-off white head that leaves pretty good lacing. Nose is of chocolate, bourbon, oak and a light wine. Taste is lightly tart indeed and a little fruity with more chocolate, coconut, cinnamon and no booze whatsoever. Body is medium-full and carbonation moderate. Some light warming alcohol but nothing bad. A light bitterness and more oak. Really drinkable and never too heavy. Really good!

Bouteille 2014, ouverture 2016. Nez de bourbon, épices, petits fruits. En bouche, c’est complexe, chaud, un merveilleux mélange du bourbon, d’épices, de caramel, de fines herbes et de fruit rouge. Excellente

pours unclear light brown, orange tint, with a bubbly white head offering good retention and lacing. very spicy aroma - cinnamon sticks, cloves, mint, dill, herbes de provence bouquet; tobacco, brown sugar and demerara sweetness, bourbon - with its vanilla peaks, wood astringency, light brett presence, lots of red fruits - cherries; pepper. foamy carbonation, light body, semi-sweet, tannic and very spicy finish. overly spicy but not necessarily overdone.
