COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Nickel Brook Cuvée is a rich auburn reserve ale, brewed with premium European and North American malts, Caribbean Demerara and a special mix of fruits, herbs and spices. This beer is then blended with ale aged in bourbon barrels that results in a complex and unique final product. Enjoy it today, or lay it down in your cellar and savor the changes in character as it matures. Cheers!

2016 version on draught at Bob's Bar during the "BrewDog Night!" event on 08/01/2017. The beer is a brownish-amber color with a medium thin light beige head that recedes quickly to a dense film. Small patches of lacing on the glass. Aroma of dark fruit, malt and oak. Medium to full body with flavors of caramel malt, dark fruit and bourbon. The finish is slightly medicinal fruit and oaky bourbon. Above average overall.

750 ml bottle shared by Tmoney99. Pours a hazy amber color with a small beige head. The aroma has bigger bourbon notes, wet, spices, fruit, caramel. The flavor has caramel, bourbon, general fruit character, mild Brett, wood, thinner body, good amount of things going on but I’m not sure this is something I would revisit. The ’16 version had a bigger abv than past years so I am glad to see this updated.

Lots of whiskey and some caramel. Not well balanced like a ogre’s vision. Dark brown pour with ok head. Sweet and oaky finish. Tap at Thirsty and Miserable.

Bottle. Poured hazy ruby color with an average frothy tan head that lasted with very good lacing. Good complex fruit, malt, bourbon and spice aroma. Medium to full body with a smooth texture and soft carbonation. Medium to heavy complex bourbon sweet flavor with a medium to heavy herbal sweet finish of moderate to long duration. Complex solid brew.

Bottle, 2016 release. Opaque, deep brown pour with a dense tan head. Aroma is tart, funky and spicy, very complex with citrus peel, caramel, fruitcake spices and more. Don’t get much bourbon barrel character though. Taste is quite similar, a slightly tart and funky note up front with hints of citrus, backed by spices and dried fruits, no detectable barrel aging. Complex and interesting, but I think it works. Curious to see how this does with age.

Keg at Brother’s Beer Bistro, Ottawa. Cloudy mahogany colour, mid sized creamy head. Interesting aroma where bourbon and oak tartness meets caramel and herbal spice. Rather tart with medium body and soft mouthfeel. Oak is dominant. Notes of red berries, herbs and toffee. Mid bitter finish. Tasty and interesting.

Murky reddish brown body some white head some lacing. Funky aroma, vinegar, oak, malts. Taste is semi-sour, don’t get any bourbon from this.

A reddish copper ale with a thin off white head. In aroma, sweet fruity caramel malt with light plums, light bourbon barrel notes, vanilla and cinnamon, very nice. In mouth, a nice sweet fruity malt with light bourbon barrel notes, woody notes, light scotch character, light curacao and coriander, alcohol warmth, very nice. On tap at Brother’s Beer Bistro.
