Tallboy can from Kenny Road Market: cloudy amber pour, big white head with lots of soapy stick. aroma of fruity, pine, dank. tastes are toasty caramel malt, herbal, grapefruit, pine, bit boozy. medium palate. michcam8 (567) - Columbus, Ohio, USA - JUL 18, 2016
From the can. Murky dark orange color, with a little fluffy white head. Aroma of sweet caramel malts, and earthy somewhat metallic hops. Taste is earthy hops, sweet malts, and a bitter bite. Drying finish. Maybe an older can? Could not find a BOD. Not my thing. drfabulous (8096) - Lexington, Kentucky, USA - JUL 6, 2016
16 ounce can. Can’t read the date. Malty pine malt forward double IPA. Nice overall. czar (9172) - Québec, Quebec, CANADA - JUN 23, 2016
can courtesy of mathieuc, many thanks bro! unclear light but bright golden with a very nice white head offering good retention and lacing. sweet tangerines, buttery melon, berry and mango fruitiness, toastiness - with some caramel unfortunately; lots of fruity sugars, tingling alcohol, lots of sticky resin. moderate carbonation, medium body - oily; sweet and unbalanced citrusy-piney finish. under-attenuated, buttery over-ripened mangoes. meh. Pours hazy honey with a creamy firm slightly off-white head. Decent streaky lacing. Looks pretty great. Nose is dull considering what’s written in the description. Notes of pine-needles, earth, and pot. A little sweet, but it’s quite well balanced for such a big beer. Alcohol is well masked behind sweet medium roasted bready malts, and tangerine and resiny hops. There were some cardboard accent in the offset which left quickly. Apricot and modest caramel in the finish. I could see two of these causing a lot of problems.
Nice to see Nickel Brook achieving balance in the big beer category. This is extremely good, even considering the $5/can price tag.

Parting thoughts: Very nice IPA from a can. from Canada. That might be a first for me.

Thanks to "Justin" for this pint sized can, 9.0%. Pours a strong golden with a small offwhite head that leaves nice lacing. Nose is of fruits, pine, very faint onions and alcohol. I say alcohol but this doesn’t feel at all like an headache coming and it doesn’t feel like 9% at all. Taste is slightly sweet, offers a piny (and moderately high) bitterness and more fruits. The sweetness I wouldn’t describe as caramel, more like a simple syrup. Pretty agressive but not from the alcohol, just from the constant beating of the hops. Body is moderate, carbonation moderate and mouthfeel is slightly syrupy and sticky. Intense drying alcohol. A pretty fun strong boost IIPA. For technical/social purposes I would go for multiple Headstock instead of one of these, though. yourilevesque (1829) - Montréal, Quebec, CANADA - JUN 5, 2016
(tap) clear, bright orange colour with a small white head; aroma of honey, stewed fruit; balanced flavour with a long medium bitter finish bluejacket74 (1993) - Reynoldsburg, Ohio, USA - MAY 27, 2016
473 ml can, canned on date of 08 April 2016. Served in a tulip, the beer pours a golden/orange color with about an inch and a half off-white head. Head retention is good, and there’s a decent amount of lacing. Aroma is nice, the brew smells mostly like citrusy (tropical fruit, grapefruit) and pine hops, along with some caramel malt. For the most part I think the flavor is similar to the aroma, but there’s also some oranges and bready malt noticeable. Mouthfeel/body is medium/full, it’s creamy and coating with a moderate amount of carbonation. It’s also smooth and easy to drink. Overall I thought this was a good brew, next time I’ll have to try a fresher can. Unfortunately I wasn’t able to buy a can until last weekend since I hadn’t noticed it in the area before then. Definitely worth a try! $5.99 a single can.
