We kicked it up a notch with our Bolshevik Bastard Imperial Stout, aging it in Kentucky Bourbon barrels. The rich chocolate, coffee and dark fruit flavours from our Imperial Stout are married together with the vanilla, oak and warming alcohol from bourbon barrels. Together as one, the result is an incredible blend of aroma and taste. Drink it today, or cellar it to enjoy later as it matures. Formerly 12%.

Tessic's rating

Tessic (1146) - Brantford, Ontario, - JAN 1, 2014
This imp stout poured a deep black colour with a creamy/foamy, tan coloured head. Scents include glue, bur bon whiskey, chocolate, coffee and dark roasted malt. First sip was smooth and creamy with flavours of smoke, roast, caramel, whiskey and soy sauce? Finish is roasted out the ting yang. Palate is burnt with whiskey overtones.

rumore (482) - Rimini, ITALY - JUN 21, 2017
From 75cl bottle at FOB, Rimini, Italy. Pours black with very low cappuccino foam. Aroma is wonderful: cherries under spirit, licorice, vanilla. Body is dense, sticky, with carbonation tickling the tongue. Taste is sweet, with a bit of acidity, and with a nice bitterness getting in the final.

brigg (672) - Washington DC, USA - MAY 19, 2017
(Bottle) Pours black and syrupy with a small brown head. Aroma is sweet; bourbon, wood, ,vanilla, milk chocolate. Full bodied, velvety; not much carbonation. Warming alcohol. Bourbon, dark fruit and berries, chocolate, vanilla, hint of light coffee.

jredmond (8202) - New York, New York, USA - APR 6, 2017
Draft at RnHw. Pours a deep black body with thin tan ring of lacing. Nose is muted coffee - pretty faint overall, which is a bit surprising given the alcohol. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with notes of booze, sweet chocolate, bourbon and round malt.

ILduce (280) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - MAR 14, 2017
Black Opaque beer with fizzy brown head that dissipates rather quickly. Bold Aromas of roasted malt, coffee, hops, and bourbon. Taste is complex with espresso, vanilla bean, biscotti, and reduced brown sugar. Alcohol is hidden nicely beneath the rich layers of flavour. Robust and full-bodied with a slick mouthfeel. Absolutely first class stout.

UPDATED: MAR 28, 2017 The 2016 edition was bumped up a notch 14.5%. wow delicious, probably best beer I had in year 2016. It was available at the brewery and many LCBOs in Ontario for $16 for a 750ml bottle, expensive but worth the price to enjoy this powerful imperial bourbon stout. All sorts of delicious tastes and even better if you eat dark chocolate with it.

thedm (6143) - Fort Wayne, Indiana, USA - FEB 13, 2017
This bottled brew from a bottle shop was served at a cool temperature and poured a small sized head of frothy fine to large sized dark brown colored bubbles that were mostly diminishing and left behind no visible carbonation opaque black brown colored body and a good lacing. The nice aroma was bourbon. The vinous mouth feel was weakly tingly at the start and at the finish roasted malt aftertaste. The nice flavor contained notes of roasted malt mild hops bourbon brown malt and dark malt. A wonderful best in class brew.

Keg at Brothers Beer Bistro, Ottawa. Black, small beige head. Rich bourbony vanilla and licorice aroma. Mid sweet with full body and well rounded mouthfeel. Caramel and coffee. Licorice and vanilla. Rich and harmonious.

cards04 (2784) - Steinbach, Manitoba, CANADA - FEB 5, 2017
A really nice barrel aged stout. Nice bourbon and vanilla aromas. Dark chocolate, roast, sherry like. Well rounded, tasty... Lots of bourbon borne goodness in this.

northropfrye (3506) - Steinbach, Manitoba, CANADA - FEB 5, 2017
Dark body off white head some lacing. Nice aroma of aeeet bourbon, vanilla, malts. Taste it rich and sweet but not cloying. Again heavy on the bourbon without being boozy. And well masked. A nice BA imperial stout.

Brettsky06 (415) - Manitoba, CANADA - FEB 4, 2017
Black pour with no head whatsoever. Aromas are very strong dried dark fruits, cocoa and bourbon. Taste a lot of dark chocolate and once again the dark fruits. Bourbon as well. The high IBU is quite hidden. Bottle labeled as 14.5%
