COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
We brewed our Nickel Brook Maple Porter to be first and foremost, a robust and full bodied porter, using premium roasted and pale malts. We then infuse pure, dark Canadian maple syrup into the brewing process, so the maple essence becomes integrated during fermentation. The result is a truly wonderful and complex mixture of roast you desire in a robust porter, with background hints of maple flavour and aroma. No additive or preservatives. Naturally carbonated for a smooth, creamy finish.Nickel Brook Maple Porter is a unique Canadian interpretation of a timeless classic!

Well I just wrote my review for Nickel Brook’s Green Apple Pilsner so it’s nice to arrive at my favourite beer by this brewery. Here’s what I think: This is not a complex beer whatsoever. It’s porter and maple syrup and that’s all you taste, really. But the flavours magically infuse and make a slight stickiness that just works. It’s probably the best uncomplex beer I’ve ever had. Beautiful appearance, too. It would be nice to see this style become popular in Canada.

Can 47.3cl. @home poured into a teku glass. Pitch black, small frothy tan head, dissipates slowly, light lacing; aroma roasted malts, cocoa, caramel, light maple syrup; taste medium sweet and bitter, malty, roasty, dark chocolate, faint maple and licorice notes; sweetbitter aftertaste, malty, chocolate, burnt carame; medium body, watery to oily texture, soft carbonation; nice porter that could have used a bit more body.

Cuerpo medio con cierta densidad, fácil de beber. Buena.

473 ml can (6% abv).
Pours black color with a large beige head. Chocolaty aroma, some cocoa, roasted malts, faint syrup tones, subtle hops and caramel. Flavor is also chocolaty sweet, slightly milky at that, dry cocoa notes, lots of bitterness and malty roastiness. not so much syrup on the flavor. Slightly too thin body here, otherwise okay.

Can 473ml (BR, 6.0 %, 12 MAR 2017)
Opaque colour, small steady beige head. Aroma is toasted malty, even a bit ashy. Medium-bodied. Sweetish flavour, glucose but maybe from maple syrup. Toasted and ashy, hints of licorice. Ok porter.

BrewWhatIWant (323) - Ontario, CANADA - AUG 4, 2017
Pours black with a decent tan head. Aroma is roasted malt and coffee. Taste is a little sweet and a little bitter with notes of chocolate, coffee, woody maple, and roasted malt contributing to the overall impression of chocolate cake. A very unique brew with all flavours very well integrated. My only complaint is it’s a bit heavy.

Dark brown, nearly black pour - small but persistent tan head. Fairly mild aroma - some coffee, roastiness, baked sweetness. Taste is medium-bodied porter - brown sugar, chocolate, faint leafy hop in the finish. Pretty smooth in the mouth but rather sticky. Pretty good.
