COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
We kicked it up a notch with our Bolshevik Bastard Imperial Stout, aging it in Kentucky Bourbon barrels. The rich chocolate, coffee and dark fruit flavours from our Imperial Stout are married together with the vanilla, oak and warming alcohol from bourbon barrels. Together as one, the result is an incredible blend of aroma and taste. Drink it today, or cellar it to enjoy later as it matures.

Mossy-tan head, reasonnably stable over jet-black beer. Rich, warm Bourbon nose, alcoholic, fusels, musk, dark plums. Bitter-roasted flavour, grainy, oatmeal, going over in a sweetish alcohol/fusels jumble. Every new sip initially seriously bitter. Serious alcoholheat, really full-bodied, viscous. Good carbonation too. Long lasting vanilla-Bourbonflavour. Rather boozy. In the end, classical Bourbon aged Imperial stout. Seems to work almost anytime. From the label: How to properly open a wax sealed bottle Much easier , cleaner, logical method: NO WAX!!

Bottle shared by alexsdad06. Poured a black color with an average frothy tan head that lasted with good lacing. Moderate to heavy toasted chocolate, wood and bourbon alcohol aroma. Medium to heavy toasted dark sweet flavor with a medium to heavy dark sweet and small alcohol bite finish of moderate to long duration. Medium to full body with a smooth texture and flat carbonation. This is a solid beer.

750 ml bottle shared with Tmoney99 and the group. Pours dark brown to black in color with a small beige head. The aroma and flavor have roasted malts, chocolate, bigger bourbon, vanilla, wood, dark fruits, good, maybe too much barrel for the base beer.

Pitch black color with brown color. Strong bourbon aroma, a bit boozy, and later some dark malts. Smooth mouthfeel; dark malts, with liquorice, a bit salty, but not much depth, and strong boozy feeling.
Ok beer, no grace or elegance.

Tasting at Alex’s (thx, Brian!). 750ml bottle. Vintage 2015. Pours an opaque almost black with a brown head. Aroma is slightly boozy, fruity, bourbon, roasted malt, barrel notes. Taste is pretty the same with bourbon, chocolate and leather notes. Good stuff.

Poured from a bottle bought 8 months prior. Smells very sweet and almost choc lately. Has a distinct smell that I can’t place. Pours a dark black. No light penetrates. Brown head that disappears quickly. Taste is very sweet, chocolatey, and hints of bourbon. You know this is a boozy beer. Good amount of carbonate. Although it does hit the mouth like a sour ale. Aftertaste is present. Not overpowering, but not what I wanted. Overall I was not disappointed, but I wasn’t "wowed" either. I will cellar this next one for a while. Let the yeast get at the sugars.MB. The Beer Bear On

Draft in Toronto. Pitch black. Wonderful bourbon aged coffee aroma. Taste is over the top with bourbon though. Strong alcohol is noted. Honestly takes like a Jack Daniel’s beverage

Draft sample. The beer is a thick black like used motor oil. Khaki head of foam. The aroma has a strong bourbon and dark chocolate profile. Some red wine notes as well. Big boozy character. Thick mouthfeel. Very nice.

Carbonatation moyenne-faible, corps moyen-dense.

750 ml bottle into snifter, 2015 vintage bottling. Pours dense pitch black color with a 1-2 finger dense dark tan head with good retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Light spotty lacing clings around the glass. Aromas of big milk chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, brown sugar, toffee, vanilla, fudge, coconut, bourbon, toasted oak, and molasses; with lighter notes of smoke, char, licorice, and dark fruit; with roast/oak earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of dark/roast/bready malt and bourbon barrel notes; with great strength. Light booziness appears as it warms. Taste of huge milk chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, brown sugar, toffee, vanilla, fudge, coconut, bourbon, toasted oak, and molasses; with lighter notes of smoke, char, licorice, and dark fruit; with roast/oak earthiness. Light herbal/roast bitterness and bourbon/oak spiciness on the finish; with lingering notes of milk chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, brown sugar, toffee, vanilla, fudge, coconut, bourbon, toasted oak, molasses, and roast/oak earthiness on the finis hfor a while. Incredible complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malt and bourbon barrel flavors; with great roasted bitter/sweet and oak spiciness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Light dryness for roast bitterness and bourbon/oak spice as well. light carbonation and full body; with a very smooth, crea,y/silky, and lightly slick/chalky moutthfeel that is awesome. Alcohol is well hidden with only a small warmth lingering after the finish, with minimal booziness. Overall this is an incredible barrel aged Russian imperial stout! All around fantastic complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malt and bourbon barrel flavors; and very smooth to sip on for the huge ABV. A highly enjoyable offering all around.
