n1940 (150) - Dunbar, Ontario, CANADA - JAN 7, 2017
750 ml bottle from lcbo - dated 2016 and labeled 14.5% abv. Quiet pour with subdued carbonation and an elaborate aroma consisting of bourbon, roasted barley, dark dried fruit, and dark chocolate. The beer is dark and opaque with an austere sepia head and sparse lace typical for such a high abv. The taste starts with a burnt sugar sweetness with notes of bourbon and roasted barley blending into the middle. The finish is long having notes of dark dried fruit ( dates, raisins, figs) and dark chocolate, and a warm, welcome, and lingering alcohol glow. To hell with my liver; must get more to cellar. It’s a perfect winter sipper!
