Flocci (35) - BELGIUM - APR 29, 2013
Dark brown with reddish (Bordeaux) notes. Creamy pale brown head that dwindles to a beige film on the beer. Caramel, coffee, malt, some orange zest in the nose. Faintly sweet and bitter, alcohol bite that is hardly masked. Bitter finish where the warmth of the alcohol rolls back on. Creamy feel, good carbonation, tingly. All in all nice, maybe not thrilling, but nice.

Pours dark red color with a medium sized head. Aroma of caramel, ripe fruits, some grass and yeast. Flavor is the same with mild toffee and spices. Decent.

Bottle 33 cl. Pours dark brown in color with a frothy beige head. Sweet darker fruits, hints of dough and light peppery spicy notes in aroma, some dark chocolate is there as well with a little bit of vanilla. Lovely. Dark fruits as raisins and dadels in taste. Some slightly vinous notes with hints of bready malts as well in taste. A bit dry. Light nuttyness in flavor too. No sign of alcohol in finish. Slightly sweet, some coffee and licorice in aftertaste. Not your usual tripel and feels more like a seasonal belgian strong ale. Quite delicious over all.

turbothy (1141) - Bonn, GERMANY - OCT 28, 2012
Stubby bottle brought home from the pub in Hoegaarden. Pours coffee brown with very little in the way of head. Sweet, malty flavour. Somewhat oily mouthfeel with a decent burn from the 10 % alc, but at the same time a watery finish. Sweet, but not much else. Disappointing.

Taste: little sour, red berries, mocha, coffee even, some dark chocolate, caramel, bit sweet, malty, ripe banana. Aftertaste: little bitter, caramel, mocha, chocolate, pretty spicy, liquorish.

Bottle @ Willems Grobbendonk, Belgium. Pours dark brown with a creamy head and lacings. Nose has lots of sweet malts. Honey, caramel, nuts, bubblegum, fruit and a bit of yeast. Full bodied. Sweet fruity flavor with dark fruit, plum, liquorice, bubblegum and a bit of yeast. Smooth. A bit of warmth. Quite good.

Bottle at Bier Circus, Bruxelles
The color is very dark, almost black; it has a compact beige head. There is aroma of dark malts, but it’s also fruity (apples). Good body strength, with round and smooth mouthfeel; strong flavor of dark caramel, some roasted malts and liquorice; it has just a medium-low residual sweetness; correct bitterness; in the final there is some alcohol perception.
Solid brew, well brewed, but too much liquorice for me.

33cl bottle @ home shared with Thompson. Very dark brown color, hazy, yeast particles in it, beige head. Smell malts, sweetness. Taste malts, lightly sweet-bitter, a bit hay and grassy. Medium carbo, medium body.
