On tap at the brewery. Served in a snifter. Orange body. Big white head. Smells a little hoppy with some Belgian yeast. Lots of vanilla. Tastes malty. Sharp Belgian yeast that’s almost overpowering, but vanilla takes over and overwhelms the finish. Medium body. Interesting variation. I think I couldn’t drink a lot of this, but in small doses it’s ok. jmm635 (1009) - Havertown, Pennsylvania, USA - MAY 28, 2015
Dark, golden color with a pillowy white head. Aroma of banana, cloves, Belgian yeast, pepper. Mainly bitter. Has a long, super dry finish. AirForceHops (7243) - Epping, New Hampshire, USA - MAY 24, 2015
750 bottle date of 10/8/ 14. Dirty hazy color thin lasting head. Aroma shows me Belgain yeast, very mild vanilla, some light traces of honey. Yeah all the flavor is here and.proper but a tad on the stale side. This feels like it is a bit past its prime. Still pretty good overall. dmac (6264) - Toms River, New Jersey, USA - APR 9, 2015
Draft during EBF weekend. Poured a deep gold body with an average sized foamy white head. Aroma and flavor of Belgian yeast, banana peel, menthol notes, grainy bread crusts. Average mouthfeel with carbonation that is a bit on the strong side. Okay. bellco33 (819) - Willington, Connecticut, USA - MAR 30, 2015
On tap at the brewery: Pours hazy golden with a white head. Aroma is Belgian funk, spices, and a little citrus fruit. Taste is more of the same, with the funk really standing out. Light to medium body, not my favorite.

ClarkVV (6709) - Boston, Massachusetts, USA - MAR 27, 2015

Amber bodied liquid is clear or nearly so, with an off-white head that is very well-retained.
Tons of esters and phenols in the nose recount pears, cherries, black pepper, vanilla, apples, currants and so forth. It’s not overpowering, nor is there any alcohol. Soft toffee and light brown bread-like maltiness add a backbone and there is little to no sign of hops. Maybe a touch of doughiness?
Two main things strike me about this beer. It’s well-done and wonderfully well-fermented/produced. There’s no dirtiness/yeastiness/blandness, no off-flavors of any sort and the carbonation and body are spot-on (fine, tight carbonation and a medium body with a soft, nearly creamy texture). But second, it’s got no real character. With all of the yeast flavors coalescing to really produce nothing striking of any sort, it’s just sort of a mouthful of malts and esters/phenols. That’s fine, though, and not every beer has to be a knock-your-socks-off, novel, crazy trendsetter. Certainly plenty of trappist character, though no one brewery stands out here. Seems more like an everyday Belgian ambree. The finish is loaded with peppery phenol and scrumptuously chewy maltiness (caramel, buttercream) and a touch of sourdough. Good stuff. Nowhere near overdone on the vanilla (would barely know it’s in there).
Draft. Golden pour with white head. Belgian spice, yeast and fruit aromas. Similar Belgian flavors, yeast and spice hints of vanilla. Concealer (1247) - Denver, Colorado, USA - DEC 2, 2014
UPDATED: SEP 5, 2016 Re-rate. Can this time. Thanks to ModeEngage! hazy golden amber with a small, foamy beige head that lasts and laces. Aromas of yeast, pears, banana, clove, earthy must, light citrus, vanilla, and caramel. Flavor is sweet caramel, citrus, yeast, banana and pear esters, vanilla and some spicy, earthy malts underlying. Medium bodied, smooth and soft with a slightly dry end. mdindy (38) - Weymouth, Massachusetts, USA - DEC 2, 2014
