Translation from website: "A beer with a strong, and obvious sweetness. Drink it now, or why not save it a couple of years? It will only improve with time."

This classic hearty ale started out a gold medal winner in the Swedish Homebrewing Championships in 1993, and went on to win gold in the World Beer Cup in 2000. A little something to see you through the longest darkest night.

33 cl bottle vintage 2008 @ home, BBE 07/2014
Might be also vintage 2007 with BBE 06/2013, unclear markings
Pours with quite low viscosity. Aroma is quite light with harsh malt, some nectar-like juicy notes, ripe fruits and toffee. Flavour has fruity notes, some malt and toffee. Finishes with a feeling of alcohol. Quite thin and flat. ”It will only improve with time” my ass.

Bottle. Amber in colour. Sweet malty fruity barley wine. Malty (caramel, toffee, toasted malts, honey). Fruity (dried fruits, plums, raisins, some orange-citrus). Very smooth, silky. Somewhat vinous. Nice mouthfeel. Alcohol very well disguised. Slightly syrupy but not cloying. Sweet malty fruity throughout. Easy drinking for high ABV. (2008)

Bottle from 2004 consumed in 2016! Not surprisingly very flat but it does not affect the enjoyability. Winey, nutty and a perfect companion to chocolate dessert

On tap at Akkurat. Pours light ruby with a large frothy white head. Aromas of caramel, toffee, rye bread, figs and dates. Taste is medium sweet, very English in execution. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with medium carbonation.

TorbenJensen (1572) - Valby, DENMARK - SEP 19, 2015
Very fragrant Barley with thin foam. It smells warm and pleasant caramel malt, fruit and easy alcohol. Taste of ripe fruit (peach and plum) and has a great round, gentle and rich malt flavor. Despite the high alcohol strength lies alcohol only in wait, destroying in any way the pleasant fruit which is this barleys main taste. As all Barleys this will probably be much better over the years, but as a young Barley it is surprisingly good.

Been sitting on this for years. The aroma is sweet, some raisin, licorice. Pours a cloudy copper/brown with a large off white head fully diminishing, no lacing. The taste is bitter. The body is medium, the texture creamy, the carbonation lively and the finish bitter and abrupt. Not bad, probably aged a little too long.

UPDATED: JUN 5, 2016 330ml bottle. Clear amber body with a minimal white head. Caramel, honey, figs, grass and dark sugars. Finishes a bit dry.

33 cl bottle. Pours light amber with minimal head, albeit high carbonation. Rum and herbal spices in aroma and taste. Some "faulty" phenols in finish. The high ABV is not warranted by taste. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

33cl Bottle from my beer cellar. 2009 vintage I think. Hazy amber pour. Thin off white head. Pretty good. Noticable alcohol but nice.

26/XII/13 - 33cl bottle from a trade @ home, 2nd Christmas tasting - BB: VII/2014 - 2007 vintage (2013-1185) Thanks to Nisse666 for the trade!

Clear orange to amber beer, small aery irregular yellow head, unstable, non adhesive. Aroma: toast, caramel, honey, bit dusty, walnuts. The ageing has taken it’s toll, and it already starts in the nose. MF: ok carbon, medium to full body. Taste: lots of caramel, honey, bit sugary, very fruity, hints of sherry, orange peel, but also some chocolate. Aftertaste: soft bitterness, sweet malts, honey, little sourish, spices, some aniseed, caramel. It’s a nice beer, but was probably much better a bit fresher. The best by date is a lie! :p
