Bottle. (thanks to my friend Balder for this one) BF dec 2012.
Brownish/yellow with a small head. Rather vinous, it reminded a bit of Madeira. Dried fruit, some butter, toffee, nuts, some dust. Not much carbonation left. Also some light spices. Still drinkable. I wonder how it tasted 6 years ago? Now I finally have sampled all the vintages of NO Julöl.

UPDATED: DEC 15, 2006 (Draught at Stockholm Beer Festival, 6 Oct. Rerate: draught at Glenfiddich Warehouse No 68, Stockholm, 14 Dec) Dark brown colour, slightly hazy with small beige head. Malty nose with caramel, toffee, chocolate, dark fruit and a nice hoppy aroma. Malty, fruity taste with caramel, dried fruit (prunes, raisins), chocolate and a hint of warming alcohol sweetness. Nice, spicy hop character in the finish. Good beer, it has gained a lot since the first taste in october. laiti (8374) - Tampere, FINLAND - JUN 23, 2012

Aroma is sweetish and rather peppery and spicy. Flavour is really spicy with some hints of sweet malt, caramel and raisins in the background. A bit too spicy for my liking, didn’t really notice that this was four years old stuff.
bottled, rbesg07.purple, not much of a head, golden syrup aroma, pretty overwhelmed by sweetness, might need some more aging but the 05 version was already pretty good at the same time the year before SaintMatty (7300) - Uppsala, SWEDEN - NOV 16, 2016

(Bottle at Pikkulintu, Helsinki, on 2008-12-13) Dark reddish brown. Medium sized white quickly disappearing head. Raisins and sweet malts in nose. Full bodied and dry palate with little carbonation. Malts, raisin, mämmi, some roastedness and bitterness in taste. Raisun and roastedness in aftertaste. MesandSim (7117) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - AUG 30, 2007
A Sim rate (RBESG tasting): Nice aroma of licquorice, dark chocolate and a tinge of perfume. The flavour is quintesentially wintery with licquorice, black cherry and fizzy sherbert. Very impressive fizzy palate which calls for an unusual ’4’. larsniclas (7040) - Billdal, SWEDEN - OCT 8, 2006
[Sampled at SBF -06]
Amber with a bubbly head.
A bit smoked with vegetable-notes.
A lot of bitterness with some breadiness.
Needs some more time to mature. KnutAlbert (6754) - Oslo, NORWAY - AUG 30, 2007
Lovely take on the traditional Nordic Christmas beer. Lots of maltiness, some spices, sweet, but not sticky sweet. Some spicy hops contribute to a great beer. ekstedt (6739) - Göteborg, SWEDEN - JAN 23, 2007
Dark red with an off-white head that quickly disappears. Somewhat sweet malt aroma with berries and a little spices. Flavor likewise, with a nice lingering bitterness. Smooth mouthfeel with low carbonation. Alcohol well hidden. Perhaps a bit plain.
