Nils Oscar Julöl 2007 is a dark beer with great power and complexity. It is topfermented with yeast from Belgium. We have used six kinds of malt and the hops Pacific Gem from New Zealand. The smell is roasted and soft with hints of licorice and blackcurrants. The flavor is warm and full with a complex charachter. Nils Oscar Julöl 2007 is excellent for glazed ribs, game meat, mature cheese, nuts and bitter chocolate, but can also be enjoyed on its own majesty.

Here is again a Christmas beer that clearly stand out others on the market. It is very dark (almost black) and has a subtle reddish tinge. The foam is very temporary. It has a delicious aroma of roasted malt, raisins and a little alcoholic aroma. The taste is quite wonderful. It has the sweet caramel malts richness, rich fruit which gives it a comfortable acidity, alcohol warmth and a soft hop bitterness. It is complete.

April 25, 2015, Bottle, shared by omhper, thanks!

Murky brown with a small to medium sized off-white head. Aroma is caramel, dried fruits, spices, sherry, cardboard, a bit too oxidized. Taste is sweet toffee, notes of dried and dark fruits. Medium bodied, a bit watery texture, soft carbonation.

[4/25/15] Bottle sample at a tasting at omhper’s place in Tyresö. Thanks omhper, AndySnow and hackobock for sharing great beers! Deep amber-brown. Aroma of sherry. Dark fruits, chocolate, caramel, a bit of cardboard and an acidic hint. Sweetish flavor with chocolate, cardboard, caramel and fruitiness. Medium-bodied.

Clear, very dark brown. Offwhite ring. Aroma has sweet, dry fruit, sherry-like. Sheery-like, oxidised flavour, light mouthfeel.

Bottle. Pours clear dark ruby/amber with airy off-white head. Clear aroma of malt and caramel with notes of fruit and spice and touches of hops. Dusty onset, replaced by sweet notes of caramel malt and notes of hops. Bittersweet aftertaste. Well past the BBD but definitely drinkable and quite enjoyable.

Bottle from Voldby Købmandsgaard. Black reddish brown with a small off-white head. Aroma/taste is roasted malts, some coffee notes, hints of licorice, caramel, dark fruits, Pretty complex character. Nice warm finish. Although it is a 6 year old beer it’s still at the top. Great beer.

Desverger (13193) - Copenhagen, DENMARK - DEC 23, 2013
Bottle from Voldby Købmandsgaard - dark reddish brown pour with very thin tan head. Aroma and taste is roasted malts, nutty, light choc and coffee, caramel, some dark fruits, light body but complex mouthfeel/palate. Has aged well, and obviously been kept well all this time. Very good indeed.
