A good thorough bitterness, very evident presence of hops and caramel, but why keep this burnt sidetone? Good for s sturdy meal, not for sipping.

Pours a clear dark ruby with a small off-white head. Aroma is malty with bread and nuts and a bit of herbal hops. Sweet and slightly sour taste wit some bitterness in the aftertaste. Body is medium with an oily texture.

Backlog. Bottle tried at Systembolaget. One of the staples of the Swedish winter-seasonals, a hint too spicy for me though.

Sträv beska som nästan sätter sig på bakhasorna, samtidigt som den bryter upp ytor för övriga smaker att röra sig på. Hög halt av aromer, ett destillat av livets goda, just så som man kommit att vänta sig av Nils Oscar.

SamTheBarrel (816) - Vallentuna, SWEDEN - MAR 28, 2015
330ml brown bottle poured into a snifter glass. Appearance is clear mahogany with a medium sized beige head that reduced slowly, leaving no lacing on the glass. Aroma of caramel, syrup loaf, toffee and nutty notes. Flavours of caramel, syrup loaf and a nutty notes. Taste is light-medium sweet and medium bitter. Palate is medium bodied, soft texture and average carbonation. Overall a tasty beer.

Clear copper with a small white head. Aroma is pretty malty, lots of grainy, toasty notes. Flavour is a little sweet, lots more bready, toasty things as well as some greenish citric hops. Doesn’t really scream "Swedish christmas" to me, but it ticks the boxes for a decent beer... something that Nils Oscar seem to have down pat.

bottle 330ml from Systembolaget Jan 09 EXP 06/09 copor: copper lacing , rich malts bit nuts and bitter astringing mouthfeel but pleasant way. This might be slightly over aged but tasty.
