Inviting color and a slim head. The smell is full of roasted malt and the deep and hoppy aroma contains lots of syrupy biterness and well balanced alcohol. It’s rich in flavour, something to drink slowly and again and again. Papsoe (25054) - Frederiksberg, DENMARK - SEP 4, 2005
(Bottle 33 cl) Dark amber with a nice, dense head. Very filling with a solid amount of malt sugars and some great hops to add both aroma and a rather distinct bitterness. A delicious brew - as most Nils Oscars. 050801 yngwie (17284) - Kristiansand, NORWAY - AUG 25, 2005
UPDATED: AUG 17, 2006 Bottle. Nice head that disappeared to quick. Dark, copper color. Aroma with lots of malt, but also delicious fruity hints. The taste has some roasted element, but mostly malt-flavour, with a little alcohol in it.Quite balanced. Finishes with a light bitter aftertaste. Its a shame I only bought one bottle. Bottle. Very malty, slightly roasted aroma. Copper colour, small creamy head. Dusty, malty, roasted flavour. Some hop aroma, bitter aftertaste. Smooth mouthfeel. oh6gdx (26485) - Vasa, FINLAND - JAN 31, 2005
Dark copper brown, very small white head. Aroma of malt and a bit of caramel. Strong malty taste, and a dry aftertaste. Wellbalanced. It took me a while to "get used" to the strong malt taste, but before my glass was empty I liked it much.

Dark copper brown with small off-white head. Excellent aroma of barley/bread with hints of caramel. Medium-bodied, malty with good balance of bread-like barley and soft flowery hops. Also roasted tones found. Balanced märzen (one of the best in this style), only finish is lacking some extra tickles. As in this style often, gives a long dry aftertaste to mouth.
Wonderful dark copper to amber color. Fine white head that slowly vanishes. Strong bitterness crossed with malt and hops. The beer has an earth-like feel which I often find and like in Oktoberfests. Thanks Eructoblaster for another good Nils Oscar! Eructoblaster (4458) - Gatineau, Quebec, CANADA - DEC 21, 2004
Bottle - 33cl. Nice dark amber body topped with a diminishing off-white creamy head. Good malty aroma with hoppy and herbal hints. Taste is dominated by hoppy flavors (Fuggle) which are also prominent in the long and delightful finish. joergen (29625) - Frederiksberg, DENMARK - DEC 13, 2004
Amber colour with low white head.
Malty aroma with hoppy notes. Nice malty flavour with notes of hops and pineneedles. Bitter aftertaste. bark (255) - Linköping, SWEDEN - OCT 2, 2004
The colour is clear, deep copper red with brown tones. The medium-sized beige foam disappears into a very thin layer.
The smell is somewhat sour with lots of malt. There are some notes of brown sugar and dough.
The carbon dioxide is mild with small bubbles.
The burned, generous is taste is bitter with a little touch of metal. There are notes of almonds, and caramel malt. The aftertaste is dry, bitter and finishes with a slowly descending taste of dark bread.
This is a nice interpretation of the Märtzen concept. As usual, it is a really good beer from the small Nils Oscar’s brewery
