Savannah, Ga. - Habersham Beverage Warehouse - 12 oz bottle. Dark, leading to black pour, slight off-white head, light lacing. Rich aroma of potting soil and pipe tobacco. Full-bodied flavor with some light chocolate notes, a hint of black coffee, some chicory, a touch of licorice. Mouthfeel has a delectable chalkiness to it. Very nice.

12 oz bottle pours a brown color with an off white head. Aromas of roasted malt, nuts, dark chocolate. Medium bodied, lightier than I expected

Poured from a 12 ounce bottle. Pours a very dark brown with good clarity and a thick darker beige head of foam. The aroma is very roasty and has some coffee influences and dark chocolates. The taste is roasty and very malt forward. This beer far exceeds my expectations. This beer is very good.

ChainGangGuy (4894) - Woodstock, Georgia, USA - SEP 30, 2012
12 ounce bottle - $1.99 at Total Wine & More in Kennesaw, Georgia.

Appearance: Pours a very dark brown body with a half inch of medium beige-hued froth.

Smell: Roasted malt fighting for attention with plump purple raisins of all things with slightly lesser notes chocolate, toast, etc.

Taste: Roasted malt with not too much sharpness to it from the assumed black patent, slight chocolate undertone with a charred nuttiness throughout. Faint, gotta-look-for-it caramel accent. Lightly sweet. Some dark fruitiness, though expanding as it warms to a full-blown moist raisin flavor. Spicy European hops with enough bitterness when aided by the roast and crisp carbonation. Slight addition of pepper throughout. Gently roasty, fruity finish with amply suds.

Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Medium-plus carbonation.

Overall: A sufficient though not outstanding brown.

Slightly hazy red brown color with thin white lacing. Roasted nutty aroma that almost jumps out of the glass. Smooth and creamy palate. There is also a little chocolate and roasted nuttiness on the palate. Overall a solid brown ale.

Draft. Poured a clear dark brown color with an average frothy light brown head that mostly lasted with excellent lacing. Medium toasted sweet malt and hop aroma. Medium body with a smooth texture and soft carbonation. Solid toasted sweet flavor with a medium sweet finish of moderate duration. Good complex brew.

Root beer brown body with a 1 inch foamy, browned head. Intriguingly nutty with puffs of cocoa, sasparilla, and maple syrup. Malty and chocolatey body with a perfectly-stated nutty refinement that furthers the complexity. The tastiest artisan stuff I’ve had on my trek through Arizona.
