FlacoAlto (4182) - Tucson, Arizona, USA - AUG 21, 2013
The beer pours from the tap with an almost perfectly white head that has quite a bit of a creamy texture to it and it even leaves some nice layered lacing on the sides of my glass. The beer is a clear, gold / pale-amber color. The aroma has a soft sweet grain character to it, savory cracker like notes, and a floral hay like note. The floral character is definitely something that is here, and it almost has a buttery overtone to it somehow.
Softly sweet up front, but really this beer is quite dry; this has a significant corn like flavor to it and there is a soft bitterness here that provides a suggestion of a bit. The bitterness gets a touch more firm in the long finish after a sip. There is a hay like grassiness to this beer, as well as a sweet, almost bread like, pale grain character that is pretty nice. This has a floral character to it, as well as a touch of herbal notes that lightly perfume the flavor.
This is spot on for the style. It is nice and refreshing for a hot, Tucson, summer’s day. Having said that, it really isn’t my cup of tea, though should be quite good for those looking for a simple, refreshing, step up from a Macro-Lager.
