From bottle poured into a glass...very dark & thick with a beige head...taste is strong and sweet with a slight Hoppiness. I taste hints of roasted nuts, coffee and chocolate. Zymurgeist2 (2327) - Redwood City, California, USA - OCT 12, 2014

Tap at OBF
A: Reddish brown with purple outlines. Creme colored head and some lacing.
N: Toffee, pecan, dark fruit, vanilla and caramel. Touch of spruce and earth. Coffee and tobacco.
T: Sweet with a rough edge of bitterness.
M: Medium body, light stickiness, a touch of alcohol.
O: A good malty beer. The balancing act is deftly managed, and I’m glad to have tried this. Doesn’t strike me with any immediate comparisons, however. scarletfire65 (1491) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - JUL 28, 2014

Not bad. Not as sweet as normally prefer, but not too bitter, either. I would drink it again, but it wouldn’t be my first choice. Aquilo (658) - Berkeley, California, USA - APR 14, 2014
Even thought they call this an "English style ale," this is actually a very American ale. Lots of hops, and too sweet. If it were English, I would expect a smoother hop character, and drier flavor. Dark brown color with a tan head. Aroma of fruit and cedar. Overall, this is a bit disappointing, but still drinkable. phaleslu (10546) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - MAR 30, 2014
12 oz. bottle from Total Wine in Phoenix. Notes of tobacco, nuts, toasted, chocolate, and amber malts, and earth. Light-medium bodied, with moderate carbonation and an earthy, malty mouthfeel. Decent English ale. jkwood04 (5463) - Connecticut, USA - FEB 13, 2014
12oz bottle in a tulip. Pours deep brown with a lacy, beige head. Aroma of light roasted and chocolate and caramel malts plus light hops and light dough. Flavor the same. Average texture. Not bad just mediocre. zoucrew102 (2046) - - DEC 28, 2013
Bottle from BevMo, Phoenix. Rich caramel malt aroma with some roasted toffee. Pours brownish amber with a light brown head and decent lacing. Sweet caramel with some brown sugary notes. Finishes with the roasted toffee and just a bit of hops at the very end. I like it.
