This came in a trade with Shyam. Thanks! Pours a deep copper brown with ruby hues and head that is absolutely non-existent. The aroma right out of the fridge and right out of the bottle was extremely mild, but once it warmed there was a subtle malt aroma that included a touch of spice and biscuit. Flavor was very sugary with plenty of caramel and brown sugar but not a lot else. Finish was a little dry with a touch of lasting sweetness. Drinkable, even with the high alcohol content, but very forgettable. bytemesis (8222) - Sunnyvale, California, USA - OCT 6, 2016
Tap. Pours clear chestnut, small beige head, decent lacing. Aroma is roasty, toffee, hint of smoke. Flavor is medium sweet, light plus bitter. Medium body. BMan1113VR (7931) - Los Angeles, California, USA - DEC 30, 2008
Bottle, thick pour and very small head that fades fast. Murky to muddy brown body with some orange highlights. Strong aroma with notes of brown sugar, spice, ginger and molasses. Light fruits, but it really reminds me of ginger-ale. Taste is malty and a bit husky with strong malts and dark fruits with a touch of cinnamon as well. Very malty beer. Light biting bubbles and smooth with a bit of alcohol poking through. PorterPounder (7886) - Tallahassee, Florida, USA - OCT 29, 2013
Trade with drowland - thanks! Pours a hazy dark orange with a sticky khaki colored head that leaves plenty of lacing. Aroma has a soapy tint to it, a touch of smelly feet. Flavor is a tad better than the aroma with some orange marmalade notes, some caramel, a touch of booziness, a yeasty finish. thick enough mouthfeel. Needs some work. Bottle, thanks to Craig! Poured deep, ruddy brown with a short-lived cap of off-white head. The aroma picked up sweet, toasted darker fruits, toffee, and cocoa with accents of earth and vanilla.. warmth brought out dirty alcohol notes that seemed off. The flavor found caramel, toffee, and fruit at the core, paired with rum-laden figs, earth, and much less pronounced cocoa.. the toasty finish was alright, but carried through some of the off flavors. Medium-bodied with rolling carbonation on the palate.. just a little rough around the edges.

Appearance: Clear dark copper with small white head and good lacing
Aroma: Sweet Caramel malts
Taste: Caramel and nutty
A decent beer.
Sampled at the brewpub. I really don’t get much of a nose here. Malt and rich fruit. The flavorvis much morebpronounced and vibrant. Lots of fruit. Dark and citrus varieties. Some anise pops in along with cocoa. This is entertaining to try. So much is going on. CaptainCougar (7133) - Columbia, Maryland, USA - APR 6, 2006
Pours a transparent dark copper with a thin off-white head. Aroma of dry toasty caramel with a hint of butterscotch. Body starts with a semi-sweet toasty dark caramel flavor finishing more dry and earthy with a lingering sticky bitterness. A decent English strong ale.
