COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Our Old Monkeyshine Ale is an exceptional example of a true, traditional-style English Pub beer. Nimbus Old Monkeyshine Ale is medium bodied and possesses a distinct, dark roasted flavor. Its sweet malty taste is derived from liberal use of seven varieties of specialty malts and a touch of brown sugar. Our Old Monkeyshine Ale is dark in color, beginning with a slight caramel malt overtone and rounded with a relatively dry finish from its English Kent Goldings hops. The hops aroma is mildly subdued and the bitterness is just enough to balance the profile of this beer. Nimbus Old Monkeyshine Ale is a true premium ale and is priced accordingly. Were so proud of this beer for its body, taste, alcohol content and drinking enjoyment, it may just become our signature beer. Be warned: its wonderful malty sweetness camouflages the 8.0% alcohol by volume content. Its a winner!

Thanks turdferguson for sharing. Pours a translucent dark copper with a fizzy light tan head. The nose is musty, old paper, malty, kind of sweet. The flavor is old and papery, musty, earthy, basement, not too hot.

(Bottle) Pours a reddish-dark brown body with a small beige head. Aroma of wood, molasses, licorice, toasted oats, nuts, cocoa, and coconut. Flavor of cocoa, burnt malt, caramel, and some fruit with a bitter finish. Complex and unique, but somewhat unbalanced.

Cloudy dark amber with tiny off white head. Sweet and slightly sour aroma with roasted malt and caramel notes. Same goes for the flavor.

Pours a filtered amber color from the bottle with a fluffy off-white head. Much closer to a scotch ale than an english strong. Smells and tastes of barley, faint roast, caramel, and tomato paste. Thin.

Hazy dark amber color. Earthy caramel aroma, very light manure too. Medium body strength, caramel flavor, but with cabbage off-flavor, vegetables. Correct bitterness. Wrong.

Pours red/dark brown with an off white head. Aroma is sweet, and taste is malty with a bit of sweet candy taste. Alcohol is hidden well, and the flavor is very solid. Not bad!

330 ml bottle in Germany thanks to Steptin. Dark, cloudy, burnt orange ale with a small, creamy, beige head. Aroma is of citrus and nutty malts. Light chocolate flavors, a hint roasty with some tobacco notes and that little touch of sourness coming through. Finish is almost dry, mildly bitter and warming.

Pretty decent selection though nothing breath-taking. Dark brown pour. Very malty nose, and taste that follows with a bunch of sweetness. Relatively fizzy for a darker beer, but still easy to drink. Hides alcohol well.

12 oz bottle. I did not enjoy this beer at all. A lot of off flavors that did not mix well.

Brown caramel color, light head and lacing. Nose is again, vegetal with some alcohol and fruity notes showing themselves. The flavor is fairly woody with some dry malts and splinters. Finishes with a light sherry note along with some maple and plum notes. Zug.
