UPDATED: JUL 13, 2004 This is dark copper with an alcoholy, nut, malt, and light smoke character. This is a good strong English ale impression. RE-RATE after visiting the brewpub ... pretty much same comments ... strong, but not overpoweringly sugared. Sweet, but balanced. Good stuff. SamuraiArtist (292) - portland, Oregon, USA - SEP 2, 2007
Bottle thanks to Hillbilly: Pours a dark red and brown color, clear with very low carbonation. Musters a tiny head for about 10 seconds before fading away. Aroma of malt sugars and red apples and some herbal hops. Not what i was expecting. Flavor is very malty and fruity, lots of the red apple flavor, some red grapes in there as well, carmel. molasses and some toasty roasted malt and a medium nice earthy and floral hop bitterness. Medium body that approaches thick. Finishes fairly dry and kinda crisp. Very unique and satisfying. bsierra (213) - Vista, California, USA - FEB 21, 2008
UPDATED: APR 5, 2008 Had on tap at Hamiliton’s Tavern. Poured hazy amber hue, nose was malty with a hint of chocolate. Flavor was a lightly sweet caramel/chocolate malt, light hops. This one finishes with a nice creamyness and lingers for just the right amount of time. A very unique and enjoyable brew, very well done and quite nice! joeymacaroni (309) - Wagontown, Pennsylvania, USA - DEC 15, 2009

Aroma is mainly hoppy and woody, not strong but inviting. It pours a clear umber with a thick, fine-bubbled wheat head. Malty flavor has notes of hops, caramel and cloves. Texture has decent body and fizz. In the mood for some monkeyshines? Here dey iz! MarinEvelyn (852) - Wisconsin, USA - MAY 23, 2015

A gift from a friend in AZ.
Poured into a pint glass being dark amber brown with a one inch tan head that laced nicely down the glass during consumption.
Strong malty sweetness of caramel & very light booze.
Definite dark fruity roasted toffee yet a dry finish of hops. Like the bitter end of this beverage. Balanced very well.
Overall this is a better than average English style pub beer. Would easily consume again. zoucrew102 (2236) - - DEC 28, 2013
Bottle from BevMo, Phoenix. Rich caramel malt aroma with some roasted toffee. Pours brownish amber with a light brown head and decent lacing. Sweet caramel with some brown sugary notes. Finishes with the roasted toffee and just a bit of hops at the very end. I like it.
