GABF 2003: Dark orange color (clear) without much head. Caramel aroma, medium watery mouthfeel. Finished dry and with an alcohol bite. BeerHawk (1810) - Huntsville, Alabama, USA - MAR 5, 2007
Bottle from trade with cbkschubert! Poured a reddish brown with a thin tan head that left light lacing. Sweet aromas of milk chocolate, maple syrup, and cinnamon. The flavor found coffee and milk chocolate. Medium body. Very enjoyable! crizay (1050) - Brook Park, Ohio, USA - SEP 13, 2007
Clear brown pour, medium almond head that stays. Aroma is toffee. Flavor is toffee, chocolate, with the roasted malts and coffee coming through later. Nutty, caramel sweetness with roastiness and smoke in the background and aftertaste. This taste damn good. 17thfloor (2443) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - AUG 27, 2008
Thanks Tonka! Pours a very dark reddish brown with a small creamy tan head. Sweet slightly burnt malt aroma with a decent amount of citrus hops, a bit fridgy. Darker flavor, burnt brown sugar with generous hopping, earthy. The 8% is pretty well hidden. Strong flavors that aren’t overpowering, a bit plasticy. Medium body that isn’t too full with fine sizzling carbonation. Pretty easy drinking for a beer with that burnt flavor. clong83 (285) - San Diego, California, USA - OCT 24, 2008
Nose of raisins and heavy malts. Well-carbonated. Roasted caramel and toffee flavors dominate, with some raisins in the background. Pretty good, one of my all time Tucson favorites.

On tap at the brewpub. Poured brown with little head. Aroma of molasses and brown sugar. Flavor was sugary, toffee, toasted malt. Hides the abv very well. Guerde (1297) - Leuven, BELGIUM - FEB 7, 2009
(bottle from Sparky27, thanks Eric!) Pours dark brown with an off-white head that settles to a thin film with adequate lacing. The aroma is very unique and quite sweet, with some fresh doughnuts, chocolate covered raisins, prune, and a subtle toasted malt lurking underneath. A little bit of black tea is detected as well. The flavor is mainly sweet, light notes of chocolate, slight raisin, and roasted malt as well. With the aroma being as strong as it was, I’d thought there would be more flavor, but everything is rather restrained. Finishes out lightly bitter and roasted. Mouthfeel is medium, the carbonation is very smooth, and the 8% never shows up. This is a really solid beer. Thanks again Eric! markwise (5441) - North of Tampa, Florida, USA - MAR 9, 2009
Thanks gunhaver for the share. Pours amber with an off-white head. Nose is brown sugar, plums, lots of malt, currants, and some noticeable hops. Flavor is sweet malt, currant, brown sugar, wood, vanilla, hops, and again, plum goodness. Generally nice beer. shp555 (2024) - Atlanta, Georgia, USA - APR 21, 2009
