Poured a dark ruby with a fizzy off-white head. Aroma is plums, piney hops, a touch of caramel sweetness. Flavor is somewhat thin dark fruits, stale hops and metallic toffee. With chewier malts and American hops, I’d probably like this a lot more. But then it would probably be an ASA instead of an ESA, and it’s no coincidence that I like the former more than the latter. Still not a bad attempt.
Bottle shared. Clear dark brown with a beige head of foam. The aroma has oaly vanilla notes. Hints of fudge and toffee in the taste. Sweet and roasty as well. Big body and medium carbonation. VastActiv (7102) - Oulu/Helsinki, FINLAND - FEB 7, 2017

Bottle. Dark brown color. Aroma of malt, smokey ham and chocolate. Taste has lots of iron and malt, with some smokeyness as well. Smells better than it tastes. Bummer. beerbaaron (1998) - Arizona, USA - JUN 5, 2015

Bottle. Pours a very dark brown color with a moderate tan head on there. Nose is toasty with some bread coming through. Taste is also toasty with a nice crisp bite to it. Decent beer, but nothing spectacular. ajnepple (6606) - Denver, Colorado, USA - NOV 26, 2014
