3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pineapple, mango, and papaya in a red ipa..whoa, that’s creative! Aroma is slightly fruity, but I wouldn’t be able to pull out those aromas. Clear red/amber color. Sips nice and lively with nice hop presence. Body is medium to full and the middle and finish bring the malt to compliment the sweetness and hops. Slight watery body in the finish is my only complaint. Dry and sweet balance in the finish as well. Nice double ipa.
Ninkasi Dawn of the Red has a medium, soapy, off-white head, a mostly clear, orange-red appearance, and minimal lacing. The aroma is of red Jolly Rancher, tea-like qualities, bready malt, brown bread crust, and hop bitterness. Mouthfeel is medium, and Ninkasi Dawn of the Red finishes medium dry. 12 oz bottle from Wegmans This is an excellent red IPA. The IPA poured a hazy amber color with a frothy off-white head and lacing. Complex IPA with pears and tropical fruit on the nose. The IPA has a medium body with average carbonation.
The taste had an earthy edge with more tropical fruit. The high IBU 75 was not expected from this very balanced IPA. There is some lingering bitterness after each swallow. radagast83 (8137) - Arlington, Virginia, USA - JUN 4, 2017
Draft at Churchkey. Poured a clear ruby red color with a small off-white head. Aroma was light fruity notes. Very malt forward. Sweet malts. Light resin notes. Sweetness. Chadhami (144) - - MAY 6, 2017
A goood red, not too much of a bite like some reds but flavors like an IPA. tightslice (1356) - Redwood City, California, USA - APR 9, 2017
