Black color, with medium sized head, quickly reducing. Mild aroma of roasted malts, simple. The roasted malt flavor is strong, a bit ashy, and it also has a strong bread presence; quite strong bitterness; the body is slimmer than expected, and the mouthfeel is quite dry; the alcohol is well managed. Eventually there is some chocolate.
Not very exciting, but still a good beer.
Dark brown, rich molasses aroma with some nice dark sugars. Medium body for style, but rich slightly sticky texture. A balanced, tasty impy, lighter but really good.

22 oz. bottle, pours pitch black with a small tan head. Aroma of roasted malts, oatmeal, cocoa powder, chocolate cake and medium sweetness. Flavour is rich and velvety, with medium roasted malt, cocoa powder, chocolate cake, oatmeal, medium-to-high sugar content, and just enough hops to counteract the pronounced malt roastyness / sweetness. Very enjoyable. yngwie (17038) - Kristiansand, NORWAY - AUG 5, 2013
Bottle, 22oz. An almost black one, topped by a finger thick light beige head. The aroma is on the malty side, molasses, roasted, almost burnt malts and some coffee and notes of dried fruits. There’s a nice bitterness in the flavor, but I find the beer too sweet. Some faint notes of cooked vegetables too. Full body with very soft carbonation and some alcohol warmth. Lasting sweet and roasted finish. Sure a nice one, but not impressive. 130805 brokensail (16432) - Dublin, California, USA - DEC 8, 2013
On tap @ Provisions Market. Black colored pour with a tan head. Nose is roast, chocolate, and licorice. Hints of dark fruit, Worcestershire sauce, and coffee. Moderate bitterness to the flavor. Decent fruity sweetness, hints of burnt sugar, and chocolate. As with the nose, a touch of Worcestershire. Coffee, light ash, and licorice round it out. bhensonb (15079) - Woodland, California, USA - APR 13, 2012
Bomber from Malt & Vine. Pours very dark brown with a fizzy dark tan head. Aromas of burnt malt, treacle and anise. Sweetish. Near full bodied. Fizzy carb. Flavor is pretty anise, there’s treacle, and I think a fair dose of chocolate, all backed by not quite smooth burnt malt. It’s not dry by me, but it’s finishing fairly bitter. Finally it all smooths out into a fairly soft bitter finish. Lots of taste in this. Dogbrick (12912) - Columbus, Ohio, USA - DEC 3, 2014
This brew is a pitch black color with a medium beige head that recedes gradually to a wispy film. Patchy lacing on the glass. Roasted malt, dark chocolate and hops in the nose. Medium to full body with a roasty malt and coffee character and notes of chocolate and earthy hops. The finish is roasty with a malt and dark chocolate aftertaste. Pretty good overall.
