UPDATED: SEP 28, 2010 On tap @ Taphouse Grill. Hazy orange-brown pour, minimal head, heavy lace. Fruit/citrus hops with a sweet, medium roast malt. Light bodied with flavors of honey, caramel, and cheese. Nicely balanced between sweet and umami, could stand more body and hoppy bitterness. leems (406) - Portland, Oregon, USA - JUL 26, 2010
Red tinted copper greets the eye, earthy floral hops greet the nose, and the tastes buds? Sticky caramel toasty. Very decent, I wish I could find more. jercraigs (10886) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - JUL 18, 2010
2010-07-043. Crisp dark amber golden body, nice bubbly beige head. Flavour is milder than expected, light bitterness throughout, interesting fruit melange, lightly dry in the finish, hints at wood. 7+ Aroma is fruity, over a mild woody character. 7+ Average plus palate. 3+ Subtle, surprisingly mild for a strong wood aged beer. Okay. On tap at Seattle International Beer Festival as Ninkasi Wood Aged Strong Ale.

[3109-20100704] Sample. Spent grain peat malt aroma. Clear, red orange body with a long-lasting bubbly off-white head. Light celery grassy hops flavour has woody malt undertones. Medium body. Getting a little old but fine.

I admit I approached this with trepidation. It looked like coffin varnish, deep red/brown with a thin head. Aroma is solid malt, caramel and fruit. Full bodied malty flavour, tastes stronger than it is, with a sweet fig note. Finish lastes blerrie forever, half an hour later and it still lingers. On tap at the brewery. Pours a cloudy red color with a medium white head. The aroma is rich hot caramel, malty and fruity. The flavor is nice; sweet hops, caramel, fruity, figs and sweeter fruit. Hot and still smooth. scrizzz (2223) - Bothell, Washington, USA - MAY 24, 2010
dark copper with a sticky dense foamy clingly head, light tan. aggressive earthy hop forward, moderate toasty base. clean caramel, super easy drinking, comes across as an imperial amber.
