Draught. Pours a hazy liht brown color with a small white head on it. Nose is bready with just a little bit of caramel in there. Taste is actually a bit earthy, to the point that it almost feels dirty. Doesn’t sit well on the palate. Meh. Davhgbrew (948) - Seattle, Washington, USA - MAR 19, 2014
Had on Ninkasi brewery night on draft at wob. The rep told me it’s not a bitter but a "small beer". Basically he told me exactly what the commercial description says. As for the beer, it’s a gold colored Eady drinking, slightly more hoppy than malty brew with subtle fruity sweetness. Initial sip is a little thin, but the middle and finish bring a dry hop bitterness that compliments. I would call it a middle of the road pale ale. Nothing exciting. harrymel (1551) - Spokane, Washington, USA - DEC 17, 2013
Tap at jones radiator
This beer is amber with excellent clarity and when I smell it, I smell esters. There are sweet malt notes and banana hits interwoven with a sweet alcohol base. It tastes sweet and soapy. There’s minimal bitterness and I wouldn’t call this an ESB. It is a second rubbings beer and doesn’t classify well IMO. As mentioned, the malts seem to have undergone too much sparring and over extraction attempts ended in a dry and disappointing profile. Glad this is a one time.

Poured one finger of head on a clear, deep amber colored body.
The aroma is dry grain and pleasant floral smell.
The taste is mildly bitter with a moderate sweetness to follow, pear and caramel.
The texture is crisp with soft edges and moderate carbonation.
Enjoyable. timfoolery (1126) - California, USA - SEP 6, 2013
On tap at Burger Saloon. Aroma is surprisingly bright grain, considering its basically sessioned after Critical Hit. Tons of flavor for an ESB. I like this better than Fullers, quality. Nice, light bitter on the back of the tongue. Great beer.

Fake pint on tap at Beer Revolution. Listed as Ninkasi Small Beer at 5.3%. Not sure how you get a small beer to get to be 5.3%, but whatever. Fairly faint aroma with a light, grassy, spicy hop nose. Light caramel malt sweetness present. Transparent orange-amber body with a small, off-yellow head. Starts a bit sweet and somewhat malty with caramel flavors. Becomes a little metallic, spicy, and grassy. Mild hop bitterness. Very drinkable. bb (9695) - Alamo, California, USA - JUN 11, 2013
Draft. Rich amber beer with a cream head. Light malt and light caramel aroma. Citrus and light malt flavor. Medium bodied. Citrus and light malt linger with light caramel. krumbum (1109) - truckee, California, USA - JUN 3, 2013
Delicious full flavor, well balanced hop, refreshing and light on the palate. good easy percentage for all day deliciousness. marcus (10479) - Sacramento, California, USA - MAY 23, 2013
Pours light amber with a foamy off-white head and a toffee aroma. There is a medium-bodied caramel malt flavor with a dry finish. It’s pretty flavorful since it is a second running of a good barleywine. pictoman (1173) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - APR 26, 2013
Poured from the tap. Clear copper colour. Biscuity malt nose. Dry, mild fig, decent amount of hops. Not like a barley wine at all.
