Strange medicinal nose that is overpowering. Thin to moderate maltiness characterized by some light toffee sweetness. Sharp hop astringency without any good hop character. bvc (1242) - Washington, USA - JUL 14, 2009
Pint draft at Hudson Public House. Pours a hazy toffee/amber brown color with a small off white head. Nose is bready malt with some grassy hops and a faint butter aroma. Some hop, some citrus, mostly malt and all ruined by Diacetyl, albeit somewhat subdued . Too bad this pint was infected, I will probably pick up a bomber and see if I have better luck. Possible re-rate. riversideAK (6261) - Shoreline, Washington, USA - JUL 14, 2009
Really nice malty nose is accompanied by peppery floral hops as well. Pours hazy amber with a fluffy head. The flavor starts with a nice dose of malt, lightly sweet, bread and a touch of toast/caramel and then a really nice blast of floral peppery hops that clean out the finish. Very nice drinking and sessionable, I can see this going with every kind of food. stchloe (1104) - Portland, Oregon, USA - JUL 14, 2009
A beautiful ale in a glass. This rich dark amber that is a hint of reddish. Very nice sweet malt body, that isn’t too big or overpowering. Ends with a crisp hop finish. A nice summer ale that is flavorful and darker. BillKismet (4090) - Seattle, Washington, USA - JUL 13, 2009
UPDATED: JUL 24, 2014 Hazy tan-amber with fluffy head. Wonderful, fresh onslaught of Liberty hops, floral and delightfully bitter bouquet. Solid barley backbone allows you to appreciate the fleshed out floral and bitter profile of the Liberty hops. Strong, but pleasant, clean bitter finish. Re-rate 7-24-14. This stands out as one of the more sessionable summer ales in a crowded field. Wonderful barley backing with a spring/early summer medley of floral notes and enough bitterness to impart complexity and balance.

Bottle. Poured red orange with medium white head. Full aroma of flowers, citrus and hop. Very hoppy flavour, more like an IPA than a pale. More citrus and ’n bietjie spice. Lasting hoppy finish.
This was more like an IPA than an American pale. Reid (2587) - Salem, Oregon, USA - JUL 10, 2009
Im not sure If I got a strange bottle but my one pours a hazy dark orange with a very slight white head,.
Aroma pleasing scent of hops..grassy, some maltiness in the back.
Taste? hops first mid-bitter lemomy, then some sweet baked apple pie flavour , brown sugar and again the hops appear at the end to lend a long lasting finish.
Ok on the palate..loved the after taste of hops.
Overall an unusual beer ,I liked it but couldnt see me drinking more than one in a sitting. carruthm (1401) - Seattle, Washington, USA - JUL 8, 2009
Pale orange in color. The aroma has a light trace of hope, but nothing really sticks out. The taste has a mild bitter taste at first that finishes strong in dry bitterness. apshah99 (147) - Portland, Oregon, USA - JUL 4, 2009
Pale copper color with thin white head, mild grassy citrus aroma hops. Smooth caramel malt, a little grass and grapefruit, with dry crisp hoppy finish. boFNjackson (4201) - Portland, Oregon, USA - JUL 4, 2009
Bottle... Poured amber-ish with an off-white head. Primary flavors of biscuit malts and sweet caramel notes. Very drinkable but didn’t quite seem like the summer session you’d expect.
