A somewhat underwhelming porter, cocoa powder but no spark. Ninkasi usually does better than this.
12 oz bottle. Deep brown with a creamy light tan head that leaves some lacing. Aroam of cocoa, caramel, roasted barley and an odd faint earthy scent. Flavor is rich chocolate, roasted malt and coffee. Medium body with mild carbonation and a smooth, creamy mouth feel. This is an excellent porter, had an odd scent but the flavor more than makes up for it. troopie (2379) - Munchen an der Willamette, Oregon, USA - FEB 2, 2012
Bottle. Black pour with off white head. Nutty and bittersweet chocolate aroma. Medium bodied, with some nut in the flavour. Roast and a little hop in the finish Zymurgeist2 (2319) - Redwood City, California, USA - APR 24, 2012
Pours a deep brown with red highlights. Chocolate and coffee ground aroma. Taste is bittersweet chocolate with a surprising amount of roasted malt. Ash like finish as well - seems more like a stout in some respects. Bitterness seems disjointed with the roast. Chocolate tries to restore some balance. Not bad. robforbes (2256) - Bremerton, Washington, USA - AUG 19, 2012
pours a dark brown with a medium size khaki head and very good lacing.
smell is faint, cocoa, malt, and a little nutty.
taste is dry yet creamy, bakers chocolate, malt, and a few hops. ends smooth with a touch of sourness.

12 oz. bottle- Pours almost black with a nice creamy tan two finger head. The aroma is chocolate malts, it smells like bakers chocolate. The taste is roasted chocolate malt, robust, fairly creamy, mild hops. This does not push any boundaries whatsoever, leaving the term renewale kind of perplexing, but it is good, a straightforward porter. pinkzambia (2051) - Boise, Idaho, USA - JAN 12, 2012
Bottle: dark brown with a tan head. Eggy aroma as well as charcoal. Malty flavors but not much in the flavor. Expected more. Thin finish. Zeswaft (1775) - Seattle, Washington, USA - JAN 17, 2012
Boringgggg. Decent chocolate aroma but other than that its a flat chalky, bittersweet forgettable beer. rmussman (1701) - California, USA - FEB 28, 2012
A big bodied porter. A nice roasted flavor that is not too overpowering but quality. Carbonated a lot for a porter but still a quality brew. AcctError160898 (1605) - Fischer, Texas, USA - OCT 12, 2012
Aroma is malt forward with notes of chocolate and roasted malts. Pours an almost black with a dark tan head and excellent lacing. After the nose, the taste was underwhelming. A mild roasted taste and then a coffee finish and aftertaste. Medium-light bodied with minimal carbonation. Overall, bland, almost no tastevat all…6will not buy again.
