A somewhat underwhelming porter, cocoa powder but no spark. Ninkasi usually does better than this.
Boringgggg. Decent chocolate aroma but other than that its a flat chalky, bittersweet forgettable beer. ApisAles (1575) - Greenbelt, Maryland, USA - MAR 19, 2012
On tap at the brewery. dark brown pour with a light tan head. Aroma is bitter chocolate, a little roast, and some hops. I’m not sure what was going on, but all the beers at the brewery from the tap tasted a little overhopped for the styles. Oh well. Flavor was good with some chocolate and roasted barely notes. A bit of that hop kick. Not bad.

Bottle:   Deep brown, nearly black, moderate frothy tannish head, sparce lacing.   Strong toasted malts, nearly roasty, slightly sweet, a bit of coffee with lots of cream.   Not a big example on the tongue.   Thin roastiness on the tongue, a bit of coffee with lots of cream and a touch of sugar.   Little hop, pale malts overall.   Body and mouthfeel are moderate... leaning on the thin side tho.   Pretty boring example overall, not robust, comes across as a an Irish Ale with a smidgen of Porter.   At least based on least years example.   ZZZZZZzzzzz..... Dark brownish-red pour with an off-white head. The aroma has some roasted malt and chocolate. The flavor is very similar with the addition of some grass character. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation. bu11zeye (13239) - Frisco (Dallas), Texas, USA - MAR 7, 2016
(22oz bottle, 2012 vintage) Pours a mahogany body with a small beige head. Aroma of roasted grain, ash, and chocolate. Flavor of roasted malt, raisins, ash, chocolate, and coffee with a dry finish. Livid (49) - - JAN 10, 2012
22oz. bottle. Pours almost midnight black, tan head that hangs around. Has a nice "dry" roasty aroma, slightly sweet smell. Roasty flavor, slightly dry. Hints of chocolate and coffee. Medium bodied. Mildly bitter at first, but the bitter afterglow gets harsh as it lingers. A passable porter, but probably not something I would pick up again.
