Flagship Series. A delicious Oatmeal Stout with just enough hops to balance the copious quantities of dark roasted malts, oatmeal for a creamy smooth drinkability, and whole vanilla beans for a rich complexity.

Draught at St. Augustine’s, Vancouver
Black color with brownish head. Aroma of roasted malt and paper. The mouthfeel is dry but quite smooth, a bit sweeter later when the beer shows some lactose; roasted malt flavor, dark chocolate, dark bread, some rye bread, quite good blend; luckily the vanilla is very subdued. Correct bitterness. The dark malts provide some acidity in the final.
Good beer.

On tap at the Alibi Room, pours black with a small brown head. Aroma of rich roasted malt upfront, with dry cocoa and subtle hints of vanilla in back. Flavour brings out extremely potent notes of vanilla, which dominate everything, with subtle notes of cocoa and roast in the back. The vanilla is rather overburdening, with a tad too much sweetness. Light mouthfeel, but potency flavoured. Good, but I prefer the original Oatis.

Dark brown. Vanilla, sweet light chocolate. Sweet, thick chocolate, lots of vanilla but that sweetness clashes with the bitterness, of which there also is in the finish.

Bottle @ home, shared by Jake. Just about black in color with a tan head. Aromas of vanilla, roast, and coffee. Dark chocolate, dark fruit, and moderately hoppy. Bitter dark chocolate flavor, coffee, and earthy hops. Light vanilla, plenty of roast, and a bit of licorice.

Bomber from The Davis Beer Shoppe. Pours dark brown with a 3 finger foamy tan head. Aroma of herbs and burnt malt. Med body. Flavor is exceptionally smooth moderately dark milk chocolate. It is on the non-dry side, so this is very much like drinking dessert. Smooth burnt malts. Vanilla accents the chocolate - which seems to make it "milk chocolate". Delicious.

Bomber poured a clear dark reddish brown with a lingering ring of tan foam. Aromas of vanilla, cocoa and light roastiness. Palate was light to medium bodied and smooth. Flavors of vanilla, cocoa and roasted malt with a smooth lingering roasty vanilla finish.
