Nobby’s Brewery, Nottinghamshire, T’owd Navigation, 6.1%. Jet black, with a big (!), frothy light beige head. Rather mild aroma of dark chocolate, roasted malts. Medium body, hardly watery, mild carbonation. Chocolate, sweet licorice and bitter roasted malts vye for attention at the outset. Middle is drier, but licorice remains, dark chocolate with a hint of vanilla. Finish has the skins of dark berries, chocolate, nuts. Bitter espresso after taste. Intriguing, multi-leveled stout. All in all not a bad beer from a small brewer who’s beer takes slightly longer than others to drop bright as the landlord explained! TBone (18105) - Pori, FINLAND - NOV 18, 2013
Dark ruby color, decent steady beige head, lace. Light toasted aroma, some coffee. Medium-bodied. Some caramel, then toasted malty, coffeish flavor. Some bitterness in the finish. Rounded, a ok.

Candy fruits and a touch of parma violet sweets. Very subtle coffee. Smooth finish. Liking these Nobby’s Old Ales.
500ml bottle at home on 19 June 2011, best before October 2011. Very dark brown colour. Beige head. Lively condition. Dark, rich malty aroma. Also berry fruit. Maybe a little clammy. Fruity and a little woody on the palate. Also hints of chocolate and some herbal bitterness. Plenty going on here. Interesting and tasty. A very decent strong ale.
